Rattling noise when turn table was in motion
Unplug any appliance before any work is done. The microwave is a hanging unit under kitchen cabinets. First I removed the turn table, rollers, and connector by lifting them out. Second I removed all the attaching Phillips head screws that hold the bottom cover on. Once removed the cover will hang and give access to the drive motor gear assembly. It's held in place by 2 torques head screws. Remove these, lower the motor, and disconnect the 2 wires that plug onto it. A small pick or similar tool is needed to release the connectors latches. reassemble in reverse. Read more...

This is a microwave turntable drive motor. This is a genuine OEM replacement part. It accepts a D-shaped drive shaft. The drive motor is located under the glass microwave turntable, and allows the turntable plate to rotate while the appliance is in use. Your drive motor might be broken if it is noisy or does not turn at all. Be sure to disconnect power to the microwave before starting this repair. Simply unscrew the bottom plate and the drive motor of your microwave, disconnect the wires, and install the replacement part. This drive shaft is 21 volts, is about 2 inches in diameter, and is made of metal.

the carousel in the turntable would not work
I had previously determined the like culpit was the synchronous motor. The roller guide had flat spots on each roller. Order parts from Part Select - pretty good price, parts were delivered in 3 days - much faster than I expected. Printed out a parts diagram from their website and grabbed my screwdriver. Also needed a pair of side cutters to cut the metal web that held the motor cover in place - only need to unscrew screw that hold the cover in place (bottom), cut the metal connectors, remove the plate and unscrew the screw holding the motor in place, pull out old unit, replace with new motor and secure the motor with the screw. Put the cover in place and secure - put the microwave back on the counter, pluf it in, put something in the oven and start her up. Took less than 15 minutes and cost me $50 for the parts. Great deal and easy to do. Read more...

Turn table on microwave would not turn.
Removed 6 screws from the front and back of the bottom of the unit. 3 screws each side. The panel will swing down. Remove the wires from the motor. Remove the one screw from the old
motor. Insert the new motor and reverse the procedure.
DIY will save you a $ 95.00 GE repairman labor bill, plus the cost of the motor. I repaired the problem for less than $25.00!

This turntable motor is for microwaves. The turntable motor rotates the glass tray inside the microwave oven. Because high-voltage capacitors in a microwave can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged, a service technician should install this part.

This turntable motor is used in microwaves. This is what rotates the glass tray so that your food is heatied evenly. The specs for this synchronous motor are 120 Volts, 60Hz, 3rpm, and 2.1 Watts. It features two 3/16-inch male spade terminals, which is what attaches to the internal wiring of your appliance. The motor also includes mounting holes; there are two mount holes on either side of the part. This replacement motor is approximately two inches in diameter, and it is sold individually.
