unscrew small nut from glass plate underneath micro used a small Phillips screw driver and inserted new lamp into socket and Inserted glass plate and secured with small nut w/ screws drivet

The piece broke upon that movement to slid the unit to the left. The replacement part I ordered fixed the need to even have it if you removed the Philips screw and placed it back into the new metal area for it to go back onto the top of the microwave.
I unplugged the microwave to be safe. Climbed on a small step stool and slid the broken unit that kept sagging without that plastic hook holding the filter in. Can't believe GE Profile allows such a flimsy filter to be used at all. These filters should not just fall apart while running water through them.

Open the front cover by pushing it at the top (where it says “Push”), lifting up and pushing back on top edge of the old filter. Pull it out. Installing the new one is basically just the reverse of those steps! That simple.
