General Electric Microwave Digitron
Step one: Disconnect the power to the Advantium 120. Unplug unit, trip the breaker, whatever. Your responsibility to make sure the electrical power is removed.
For cabinet mounted units remove four screws from front side flange holding the microwave to cabinet
On the cabinet mounted model access three screws along the top front edge of case behind the display then one screw on each side of display and two hidden screws accessed through the top of the case via access holes. (use a magnetic see driver for these screws)
Work the display panel off and support it until the connectors are removed.
There are three small color coded plugs on the left side to the PC board and five larger colored plugs on the right side. Note plug locations.
Lay the removed control panel upside down on a towel at the corner of the sink so the selector knob is not resting on the counter.
Remove PC plug to the display and remove four screws on the PC board. Shift the PC board to release the tabs. Then remove two screws holding the PC display board. Note two guide pins also align the PC board.
Remove the rubber insulator from the old board and put it at the same location on the new board. There is usually enough stickiness on this insulator to put it back on the new board.
Installation is reverse. Reconnect power. Try it out after completion by boiling water in a microwave safe container. My new display was much brighter than the replaced display. No flashing. Read more...

buttons on front panel of microwave would not work
Unplug the microwave unit from power source. I removed the air vent from the microwave that is located at the top of the microwave. Next I unscrewed the control panel that was held by one screw towards the top of the microwave. The panel then needs pushed upward to release from main microwave chasis. Gently remove control panel. Unplug the 3 main communication lines and the 1power line from the PCB. Pull up on ribbon cable slot in order to release pressure from the ribbon cable. Pull from the sides of the ribbon cable slot. Then the cable can be removed. You will then remove the 4 screws holding the PCB to the control panel and release the 2 hinges holding the board in place. Put PCB back together on new control assymbly. Plug in new ribbon cable, communication cables, and power cable back into the PCB. Put rest of microwave back together and test out. All went well with mine thank goodness. I am a technician at trade so it was easy for me to know how and what to do.

Error Message: Keypad Shorting Out
This microwave is hung from a cabinet above the stove. I needed to replace the keypad unit. All that was necessary was to loosen the two large mounting screws through the bottom of the suspending cabined (#2 Phillips), tilt the microwave down, remove two more #2 Phillips on the upper plastic cover to reveal the single #2 Phillips securing the keypad assembly. It was then necessary to swap the electronics keyboard from the old to the new keypad, (more #2 Phillips). Every electrical connector was unique, so no problem getting all the wires into the correct spots. The only slightly tricky bit was the flat cable to the keypad itself: the connector needs to be unclamped by pulling up on the beige plastic mount to release the cable.
