PartSelect Number PS3531962
Manufacturer Part Number ADQ56656401
The Dryer's Lint Filter is used to collect lint during the dryer cycle as it passes through the dryer vent, in order to prevent damage to the machine. This manufacturer-approved part comes in gray, measures around 12 inches wide by 11 inches high, and is easy to install. It slides into the lint filter slot in your dryer. If there is visible damage to the screen then it's time to replace the part. We recommend that you thoroughly clean the lint filter before every load, but even with good maintenance, this hard-working part is often damaged or worn over time. If your dryer isn't drying quickly, the filter may be responsible. The manufacturer has made an authorized substitution to the lint filter. Due to the changes, the manufacturer suggests changing the filter guide, part # MEA4905001 and filter cover, part # MCK66787901. The replacement of the entire component including the filter and surrounding area and guide simply involves the removal of a few screws and screwing the new parts back into place.

PartSelect Number PS11757278
Manufacturer Part Number WPW10717210
This manufacturer-certified dryer lint filter is used to collect lint during the dryer cycle, to prevent damage to the machine and to prevent lint from sticking to clothes. This model comes in white and is easy to install. It slides into the lint filter slot in your dryer. If there is visible damage to the screen then it's time to replace the part. Check your user manual and model number to see if this is the right part for you. Make sure you empty the lint filter after every use of the dryer and check the filter slot for an excess buildup of lint, which can shorten the life of your filter and be a fire hazard. The screen is approximately 20 inches in length, not including the handle, and around 8.5 inches wide.

Door catch broken; lint filter handle had come off
Removed some screws and partially dismantled the door so I could get the old catch out. Inserted the new catch, and put the screws back in. Saved me an $80+ service call.
On the filter, I had to use pliers to remove the old one because the handle had broken off. Did that, and inserted the new one. Done. Sears had been unable to supply me with a new filter.

Dryer making grinding noises
We live in a Condominium, space is tight especially in the Utility room where the washer/dryer are located. Turned dryer breaker off at the electical panel.
Removed the top cover and front assembly w/door and front drum support, right where the unit was located. Had to gain rear access to loosen drum drive belt so undid the dryer vent hose to floor connection through a front acess hole. Moved the unit out to the breakfast nook as well as disconnecting the power cable from the wall socket. Removed the rear access panel covers and unhooked the drive belt. At the front removed the top screws off the lower cross member to allow spreading of the side covers to allow the removal of the drum. Removed drum and found the bearing bushing gone, reduced to powder.
Using the supplied instuction sheet, replaced the rear bearing assembly, replaced the drum after vacumming the whole interior and started the reassembly of the unit using the new belt and moved the unit back into place. Reconnected the power cable and dryer vent then lastly replaced the lint filter and selector knob. Closed the breaker and turned on the machine, no noise!!!
Incidently I am 78 years old. Thanks PartSelect.

The lint filter in your dryer is used to collect lint as it passes through the dryer vent. If you notice that your dryer is not providing enough heat, or if it takes too long to dry, you may need to replace the lint filter. You should also replace the lint filter if you notice it is damaged during regular maintenance. Many of our customers have rated this repair as easy. To complete the repair, simply remove the old lint filter and replace it with the new one. You may want to use a flat head screwdriver to remove any residual lint before you install the new filter.

Dryer not heating
I followed video instruction in disassembling and set screws from each section into diferent small bowls in the order they were removed. Hardest part was some of the screws were really hard to get loose without stripping them and my control panel did not match video but I figured it out. Replacing the parts were easy and putting it back together. While it was apart I cleaned everything including fan blower wheel. Thanks for the right parts and your online video. With your help and a prayer this 62 year old woman fixed the problem and dryer runs like new. Read more...

Water Filter
★★★★★
★★★★★
(21)
PartSelect Number PS10063209
Manufacturer Part Number RPWFE
Household water can often contain impurities that can affect the taste, quality, and health of the water your family is consuming. This NSF certified filter helps to reduce a lot of these contaminants. A good way to judge whether the filter needs to be replaced is when the water flow to the dispenser starts slowing down and there has been no change to the water pressure to the product. It is also recommended to change it every six months to ensure it is working at peak performance. This filter is found in the left-hand corner of the fresh food compartment or within the left refrigerator door. It measures 9.75 inches high,1.625 inches wide, and weighs 0.4 lbs. After installation is complete run two gallons of water through the cold water dispenser to get rid of any air. For icemaker-only models, throw out the first bin of ice to remove air. There are two common models for this filter, one that has a grey holder and one that has a black holder. The installation and removal instructions vary slightly. Grey Model: Pull the bottom of the old cartridge allowing it to swing outward. Pull to free the cartridge from the holder without twisting it. To install the new filter, center it with the holder, making sure the word ?FRONT? is facing forward and centered. Swing the filter inwards until it is positioned. Black Model: Pull on the bottom of the old cartridge to unlock it from the clips. Swing it outward until you hear a clicking sound. Now twist the cartridge one-quarter of a turn counter-clockwise. Pull it out to remove. To install the new filter, match the filter cartridge with the holder, making sure the word ?FRONT? is facing the top of the appliance. Push the filter toward the back of the appliance until it is secured. Twist it clockwise one-quarter of a turn so the word ?FRONT? is facing outward. Swing filter inward until it is secured.

Dryer wouldn't heat
This was the first time I ever attempted such a repair on an appliance, but it was fairly easy once I figured out how to take the front of the dryer off! I was almost certain that the igniter was the problem was it didn't glow like it did before. On this particular LP Gas dryer from Maytag there is a little service door on the front near the floor. It is almost impossible to get your arm in there plus still have room to shine light in! I took off the two screws at an angle down near the floor and the whole front came off. I used a mini socket wrench to disconnect the igniter. I didn't have to remove the screw as the part slips on over the screw, then you just tighten the screw, connect the cable and it worked perfectly! Thanks PartSelect! As for the lint filter...the original has been broken for probably close to 10 years. It was just a matter of slipping the new one in. Read more...
