The filter collects lint during the drying cycle. This filter is 12 1/2 inches wide and 10 1/2 inches deep. Replacing the lint filter is an easy repair which requires no tools. Amana Dryer Lint Filter

This is an OEM lint filter for a dryer. This lint filter screen has two side guides on either of the screen. One measures 3/8 of an inch wide, while the other measures 5/8 of an inch wide. This part is white and is made of plastic. You may need to replace the filter if the plastic is broken or warped. Simply slide the lint filter out of the slot and slide the replacement filter in. The lint filter collects lint from drying clothes and prevents lint from building up in internal moving parts, specifically the heating coil. Neglecting to clean your lint filter is a fire hazard, be sure to clean it on a regular basis.

After the new filter arrived, I took the old filter out, put the newe one in. No tools, no difficulty at all. Actually, the really difficult part of this entire episode was finding the model number on the dryer. It was on the underside of the door.

The Felt Gasket between drum and door ripped, vent manifold from Dryer to fan and lint screen broken
I pulled the bottom panel and the door panel to replace the manifold and felt gasket around the drum. I removed old gasket very easily, it peeled right off. I use brake cleaning fluid (Spray Can from Auto Zone about $1.45) to remove old glue. Used spray contact cement (Elmer's about 4.50 at Ace) and sprayed the panel and gasket surfaces and let dry. I then applied a 2nd coat and let get "tacky" and installed the gasket. You will need an extra set of hands to hold the gasket in place while you stretch it over the the panel. The vent manifold is held in place with 3 phillips screws and was installed in about 10 minutes. The only gripe I had was in the Parts-Select illustrated breakdown they don't tell you the lint screen comes with the manifold assembly, so I bought one of them too. Now have an extra lint screen

The felt edging around the inside of the filter came off
I took out the old lint filter and put in the new. Note, if you are looking to replace a filter because the felt is coming off, the new ones have no felt strip on them! It was really a waste of money as I could have just taken the felt strip off!
