Noise on bottom of Washer louder as time went on. 1 1/2 years
Well, first investigated and found loose nut on drive clutch. First take off the two screws with nut drive then cover off using a screwdriver blade to snap off the cover. Then socket ratchet to take off the nut on drive clutch. take off belt by slowly rotating the drive gear. two screws that hold the electronics to the upper drive clutch and put aside, so you can snap off the cover for drive clutch on upper part with screwdriver and off the parts come and install whole unit back as took it apart. Line up the new upper clutch so that is position as was before. (Using parts diagram helps a lot as www. partsselect.com has for you or Maytag.com.) Then put the electronic part board back on and the gear and nut. Make sure it is tight by several attempts to make sure it's snugged up good and then slowly roll belt back on the pulley and motor drive. Put your cover guard back on with two screws and done. Washer made loud banging noise during spin cycle
I first removed the back panel held on by about 10 screws. I removed the drive belt from the pulley, then removed the lock nut securing the pulley to the drum & removed the pulley. Attached the new pulley to the drum, tightened on the lock nut, attached the new belt & ran a spin cycle. When that went OK I replaced the back panel & the washer was back in service. Read more...

This part is the replacement drive belt for your washer. It is made of black rubber and is approximately ½ an inch wide and 48 inches long. It has 6 grooves and is sold individually. The drive belt is found between the motor pulley and the drive pulley, and it connects the motor to the drive system. When the belt is running, it allows the basket or tub to spin. If the belt is stretched, worn, or broken, the tub will not turn. A warped belt can also cause the washer to be noisy while operating. This part is an authentic OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.

Bad drum belt
Our whirlpool washer drum wasn't turning and there was a thunking noise from the machine when the drum should have been rotating.

I opened the top and back of the washer using a ratchet wrench. There were 4 screws holding on the top (at the top rear of the machine) and about 12 or more holding on the back panel. Removing these I could see the belt had become frayed, had come off of the drum, and was bunched around the motor drive wheel. The old belt was still usable, but clearly not going to last much longer so I purchased a new belt. The new belt was tighter than the old belt (which is good) and so took a fair amount of effort to get back onto the drum. I had to hold in place while turning the drum, something hard to do because of the braces on the back of the washer get in your way. But, I eventually got the belt propery seated. I then replaced the back and top panels. All appears to be working as it should.

Guide new belt onto Washer Large Wheel. Use a pair of pliers to hold belt onto wheel as one turns the large washer belt wheel, guiding belt onto wheel. Note belt will be tight. Seems like belt will not fix but keep going it will fit, you might even hear it pop on.
