KitchenAid Cooktop Switches

Popular KitchenAid Cooktop Switches

This dual surface element control switch is a genuine OEM replacement part designed to fit select models of stoves, ovens, and ranges. The control switch is an essential component that allows you to turn the surface element on and off, as well as regulate the amount of heat the element produces. If your stove’s surface element isn’t heating properly, fluctuates in temperature, or won’t turn off, replacing the control switch can restore full functionality. Before installation, ensure the range is unplugged, or disconnect the power at the house circuit breaker to avoid electrical hazards. The surface element control switch is usually located behind the stove’s front control panel. To install, remove the panel and disconnect the old switch from the wiring harness. Install the new switch by securing it in place and reconnecting the wiring to match the original configuration. After installation, turn the power back on and test the surface element to verify it operates correctly.

Burners were intermittently working.
It turns out that the 6" and 8" burners we actually broken and the infinite switch for the 8" burner was not working properly. These we very simple replacements. You just need to note the numbers on the original burners to make sure that you use the same numbers on the bottom of the burners so that they install in the same slots. The wires on the infinite switch match and this takes less than 5 minutes to remove the back of the stove top and the front switch handle. Simple replace the infinite switch and the burners and whoowhooo ,,.... the fix is done.
This surface element switch controls how much heat an electric burner makes. It turns power on and off in cycles as the knob moves from low to high. A burner that stays on high, will not heat, or heats at the wrong level may have a bad switch. Before replacing it, inspect the burner, wire ends, control knob, and nearby parts. Confirm fit with the full appliance model, terminal layout, and 15-amp, 240-volt rating. Turn off the breaker and verify that power is off. Move each wire one at a time before testing.

A surface element switch, also known as a burner/infinite switch, is a device used to control and regulate the heat output of the burners on a stovetop or cooktop. This switch is controlled with a knob on the user interface of the cooktop or stovetop and is adjustable by the user. This burner switch is compatible with various ranges and cooktops and is a genuine OEM part that is sold with all of the necessary hardware to secure it, such as the Philips-head and flat-head screws, brackets, bolts, washers, palnuts (also known as a push-on nut) and terminals. Over time, this switch can wear out or become faulty, leading to heating issues for your stovetop and cooktop, such as not heating, overheating, or staying at the same heat level. Depending on the orientation of your cooktop, you will need to install this switch with or without the bracket and palnut, so reference your user manual for that information when replacing this switch. You will need a screwdriver and set of pliers during the replacement and installation process, and simply need to follow the instruction manual included with this switch to correctly replace and rewire it.

Burner would not heat
First i shut off the power since this is an electric cook top/range. I then removed the knob and the two screws that hold the burner switch in place. I removed the wires one at a time and connected each to the new switch. I then reattached the screws to the switch. The most difficult part to me was breaking off the switch stem at the right level. I got that done and finally selected the appropriate adapter for the stem/knob fit.
This part includes 4 ignition switches and the wire harness. You can not purchase these separately.

This dual infinite surface element switch regulates the heat output of an electric cooktop burner by controlling the voltage supplied to the heating element, allowing smooth adjustment from low simmering to high-heat cooking. Designed to power burners with both an inner and outer heating ring, it lets you select either the smaller inner ring for everyday use or both rings when additional cooking surface and heat are needed. Rated for 15 amps at 240 volts, this switch helps maintain consistent temperature performance. Replacing a worn switch can resolve issues such as a burner that won’t heat, heats inconsistently, responds unpredictably to knob adjustments, or shows signs of electrical problems like buzzing or intermittent power. Installation typically involves disconnecting the appliance from power, accessing the control panel, and transferring the wiring to the new switch.
