I have a 30 inch cooktop approximately 25 years old. The switch for the back left twin element is kaput. Otherwise the unit is in good shape and works well. The diagram in your website looks like the cooktop but I am unable to determine which switch is for the double element. Could you please advise. Thank you

Replaced the switch and now the burner won’t turn off. What did i do wrong?
For model number Maytag cse4000acw

Hi Sahm,
Thank you for your question. If you have already replaced the burner switch and the burner will not turn off, the issue could be with the burner itself or the switch is defective. I would check both parts and the connections between them to verify which part is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Thank you for your question. There is only one switch listed under your model number. The part number listed under your model number for the switch is PS12070192. If there is a different switch for canning, you will need to contact Whirlpool. Their telephone number is 1-866-698-2538. The element that has been used the most gets fire hot, burning food and pan. I tried to find a replacement for what may be called the ‘burner controller’? Can you help me determine if i’m looking for the right part? Looks like #12 in the diagram.
For model number RS6706XK1

Hi Cynthia, it does sound like a switch. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!

One of the heating elements will turn on and goes to high heat but cannot be adjusted or turn off. The only way to turn off the burner is to kill the power to the stove. Which part would need to be replaced?
For model number RS696PXBQ2

Hello Eric, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the burner switch and the wiring from the burner to the element. You can test the switch with a multimeter to see if there is continuity, and check the wiring for any visible damage. We hope this helps.

Burner would not heat
First i shut off the power since this is an electric cook top/range. I then removed the knob and the two screws that hold the burner switch in place. I removed the wires one at a time and connected each to the new switch. I then reattached the screws to the switch. The most difficult part to me was breaking off the switch stem at the right level. I got that done and finally selected the appropriate adapter for the stem/knob fit.

The switch had shorted
I reviewed the schematic. Removed the outer casing. Pulled out the existing wires and replaced them exactly on the new switch. Snipped out off the control stem to match the others. There was a small metal piece on the old stem which holds on the knob. I removed it from the old stem and put it on the new stem and Eureka.

Old infinity switch on electric rangetop did not work correctly
Lifted range top, disconnected and labled wires from old switch, removed old switch, replaced wires on new switch, installed new switch.
NOTE: Local appliance store informed me that the electric cooktop was too old and that a replacement switch was not available and wanted to sell me a new cooktop for $795!
I found the switch on PartSelect and repaired the cooktop. Total cost... UNDER THIRTY DOLLARS!!

faulty switch
I found the received switch (PS12070192) a poor replacement for the original, or even the earlier replaced part (PS11744446, in 2016) I was going to replace since the press/return feature seemed slow to return.
The male spade lugs on the received switch are so positioned that engagement is only possible if the lug is bent out at a large angle. The lug set-back from the body edge, and the raised ribs on the sides still prevent full engagement of the connections.
I did install the new switch but found that was the only switch that didn’t give a signal light when turned on.
I have reinstalled the earlier unit.
Is part# PS 11744446 no longer available?

Surface Element switch faulty with no control on heat
Turned power completely off. Removed knob from front panel. Opened range top cover. Removed 3 screws from aluminum panel protector behind the element switch. Once panel is removed you can see the switch element. Remove 2 screws from the front panel that connects to the element switch. Remove the old element and replace with new element making sure that each of the 5 wires on the old element is transferred one by one to the new element. Reverse the process in putting it all together. Turn on the power and walla you've have a new stove. You just save $600 plus.

Easy repair
The part, though physically different from the original, came was great directions and was easy to install.
Frank B - April 16, 2019

IT WORKS :0)
With minor modifications the part worked fine. One wire was too short and the arrangement of wires to the switch was a bit confusing.

fast delivery, repair went well
cook top stove back in operation.....switch is only part available for that particular model of cook top.....obsolete model that WHIRLPOOL no longer supports which is kind of disappointing fortunately the switch replacement was all that was needed.....the new switch itself does not seem to be as sturdy as the one being replaced.....hope it will last as I REALLY DON'T WANT to have to replace the entire cook top unit....est $1500.
