Microwave Fuse Specifications
This ceramic microwave fuse is just over an inch in length. It is white in the center, and metal on both ends. This is a 20-amp fuse, and is used to power your microwave. If the touch pad on the microwave becomes unresponsive, the microwave produces little to no heat, or the appliance simply does not turn on, it could mean that your fuse is at fault and needs to be replaced. Because this part contains an electrical charge, remember to disconnect power to the microwave unit before you begin this repair.
NOTE: Before you start this repair, ensure that the microwave is unplugged, and the capacitor is discharged. A capacitor stores large amounts of electricity even after your microwave is unplugged.

The breaker was tripped but fuse was ok on testing. I kept the fuse for possible future repairs. To access door switches and fuse on this model JVM1850CF001, remove 2 phillips screws at top. hing the main panel. Lift the panel 1 cm and it will easily come off forwardly - I let it hang by the electrical cords. Now you can see/discharge capacitor(s). Remove 2 star screws inside door to loosen/remove/access door switch frame. 3 switches are held in the frame by plastic tabs - one tab per switch. One is primary and 2 are secondary door switches. I removed each switch one at a time by lifting tab, pulled off the electrical connector and filed the male metal connection on each switch. I replaced the switch with a loose button (loose and didn't click as crisply compared to the other switches) with a new secondary door switch. It was the lower secondary switch. Worked like a charm after that.

Microwave was accidentally overheated and all power was lost.

Since I didn't know if it was the current fuse or the flame sensor, I ordered both parts, and, I had to order the tamper proof torx bits needed to remove the microwave cover ($7.45 on Amazon). Once the cover was off the unit, both parts were easily accessible on top of the oven and were replaced in only a couple of minutes.

Microwave with no heat. Removed casing and checked low voltage side from the fuse through all the microswitches to the primary side of the transformer, all good. Checked HV diode good. MICROWAVE WAS NOT HEATING THE FOOD

So my microwave was turning on and operating but nothing would get hot or even Luke warm. After watching several online videos on the problem I replaced the line fuse, diode, and the magnetron. I figured why waste time and just do all 3 while I have the thing apart. I discharged the capacitor with a light bulb first before doing anything.

Also had to pop the safety pins on the outside screws to take the metal housing off the microwave. Then Wallah! Everything is working and the food or liquid is hotter than it ever was. The only think that bothers me a little bit is that after the microwave shuts off, I can hear a few crackles or faint pops for about 5 seconds. I wonder if this is anything to worry about. Comments appreciated.

The microwave just died and has no light or display. Power is good at the outlet. I suspect the fuse but not sure. Do you have any replacement instructions for fuse replacement?
Hello David, Thank you for the question. The fuse is located on the top right of the microwave near the front. Accessing it will require the top and side panel to be removed if it can not be viewed from the front. If you are not familiar with Microwave repair we suggest a repair man. The Microwave can hold a charge even when not plugged in and will need to be discharged before the repair. We hope this helps!

My microwave comes on but does not heat.

Thank you for your question. If your microwave is not heating, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the fuse, the door switches, the high voltage diode, the magnetron, the hood thermostat and the thermal fuse. Microwave only comes on for 8 seconds then shuts off.. pf is on control panel. could it be fuse inside microwave?
Hello Sue, thank you for your question. The PF indicates a power failure within the unit. We would recommend testing the following parts for continuity. THERMOSTAT Part Number: WB24X10163, THERMOSTAT Part Number: WB27X11100, and FUSE Part Number: WB27X10928. If those parts are fine, the issue is probably with the main control board. How do I and where is the fuse located
Hi Tom,
Thank you for your question. The fuse is located on the top right of the microwave near the front. Accessing it will require the top and side panel to be removed if it cannot be viewed from the front. If you are not familiar with Microwave repair we suggest a repair man. Before starting this repair, unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet. You will also need to discharge the capacitor as it can hold a charge even when not plugged. How do I access the fuse? I can't figure out how to remove the front panel or the control panel to check to see if the fuse is blown. I need to check this part because the microwave won't turn on and the control panel is unresponsive.
Hi William,
Thank you for your question. NOTE: If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, please get an electrician to do this repair. Before you begin any repair, please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the grill. With the screws removed, open the microwave oven door then the slide the grill to the left and lift up to remove it. Next remove the control panel mounting screw and then lift the control panel up to detach. Then remove the screw holding the inner access panel and then release the panel from the retaining clips. To avoid injury, you will need to release the potentially dangerous charge from the capacitor by placing a screwdriver with an insulated handle across the terminals. Be careful not to touch the metal portion of the tool. Use pliers to detach the old fuse from the noise filter board. Install the new fuse by snapping it into the bracket. Replace the inner access panel and secure it with the screws. Now insert the control panel tabs into the slots in the frame and push the panel down. Secure it with the mounting screw. Insert the tabs of the grill into the frame and slide it to the right. Shut the oven door and then secure the grill with the screws. Plug the power cord back in and the microwave should now work. Hi - our GE Advantium microwave (from 2012) suddenly showed a "Key panel SHORTED. Service may be needed" message on the screen and stopped working. Will this fuse repair that short, or is a whole new panel necessary? And is replacing the panel feasible as a DIY project, for a relatively handy person but with limited appliance repair experience? Thank you!
Hello Aaron, Thank you for the question. This indicates the Control Panel with the Keypad will need to be replaced. Microwaves can be tricky since they can hold a dangerous charge even if left unplugged for a period of time. It will need to be discharged to safely perform the repair. HOW DO I OPEN THE BOX TO REPLACE THE FUSE? WHAT SPECIAL TOOLS DO I NEED?

My microwave keeps scrolling press start but none of the buttons are responding .

Microwave stopped heating, want to change fuse first but I need to know how to do this. Second turntable keeps turning replaced one door switch but found that there are 3 switches which one or do I have to replace all 3 thanks for the help
Hello Christopher, thank you for the question. If the fuse was blown the appliance would not power on as it cuts power to the appliance once blown. The No Heat can be caused by a faulty door switch as well. Only way to know what switch is the issue is testing all three with a multimeter to check the continuity. This GE Convection Microwave stopped working abruptly and the panel went dark.
Replaced the ceramic fuse and was able to set the clock.
However, as soon as I tested the unit with a cup of water, the MW went dead and the panel went dark.
The ceramic fuse still tests good for continuity.
What else can be causing the problem?
Hi Ken, thank you for the great question. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend checking the continuity of switches. If they are fine, then you have to replace the control board, part number PS1018328, to solve the problem. We hope this helps!
