My GE profile microwave display is very dim and some times we can see it. Is there a way to turn the brightness up or do i have to by the control power board for $182.69
For model number PVM1790DR1BB
Hello Frank, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, there is no way to turn the brightness up on the display. You would have to replace the Control Power Board part number WB27X10866. Good luck with your repair!

All buttons on the control panel work and the rotory button works for turn functions, but the push function of the rotory button does not function. Will this be the control board?

The timer on our appliance is not working properly. Sometimes, we'd set the time, and 95:00 would show up. Sometimes the time displayed when adding time actually goes backwards instead of forward. We had an appliance repairman come out to give us an estimate to repair it. He said he'd have to replace the motherboard and with labor to install it, was $428. If the mother board he's referring to is the power board on your site, it's $220.65. Is the repair cost appropriate? We're thinking might as well buy a new appliance!
For model number JVM1790BK01
Hi Lyn,
Thank you for your inquiry. The quote does sound accurate. It would include the cost for the part and his time to install it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I was replacing the light that lights the stove top underneath the microwave when the bulb flashed and went out. I went to the store and got a new bulb. Now i put it in and it stays on even thought the display says "bright, night or off". I think i fried the switch in the on position. Everything else works fine.

Was working up to finishing a simple heating cycle. Went to start another and now all the control buttons produce the correct indication on the display but nothing happens when the start button is pressed except the timer starts counting down. Tried the convection side and again the display shows preheat when start is pressed but not heat from the coils. Get no fans, turntable, or anything but the display controls and display seem to all function correctly. Just no actual operation past the control panel. Hard reset did not help. Also hear a temporary activity sound from behind the controls when i switch from micro to convection and back but no other heating or fan action.

Hello Chris, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: line fuse, the micro and monitor switches, the thermostat, the sensor, and the control board. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you.Hope this helps!

Our microwave is being strange. Sometimes you will program it to run and it stops and pauses and must be restarted.. just shuts off before the time is complete..do you think it is the electronic control? we have bisque colored appliances and had a very hard time getting matching colors for the fridge, dishwasher and stove. I'd hate to lose this microwave
For model number PVM1790DR1CC
Hello Tere, Thank you for the question. This might actually be a defective Door Switch. Part Number: PS236997 or PartSelect Number PS237409.You can check the continuity of the switch by using a multimeter.Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!
Microwave will set timer and express cook timer but when pressing start the countdown timer progresses but nothing else happens - no heating, no fan, no turntable. You hear a click either at the bottom of the control panel or by the door switch after pressing start and only countdown timer appears to function.

Dim panel lights on Profile Microwave Oven
Repair was easy. I took a picture of the board while connectors were still in their place. That really wasn't necessary because it was easy to match each connector with its receptacle. On completion, the power was put on and I was disappointed that the repair hadn't worked. The panel lights were still dim and hard to read. I did a google search on this problem and read that the problem with dim lights is due to a bad condenser and (though I don't believe it) one can go bad in time without being used. I called Parts Select and received a return authorization. The next day to my surprise, the panel lights were now bright and readable. I called Parts select and cancelled the return. Two weeks later it is still working. Thanks for being a reputable company.

Easy repair worked as expected
The control board is an exact match. Watched video on internet on how to replace. Took photos of wiring before I disconnected plugs. Very easy to replace. Worked fantastic. Great quality.

Fast delivery
The part arrived on the first day it was expected. I had already removed the old unit in the microwave to see if there was anything I could do to fix the darkened display. Therefore I already knew the process to remove and replace this part. I had reached out to GE for advice on how to replace this and they adamantly told me not to try for safety reasons. They wanted me to send the whole unit to their service center for repair. I then bought the new display from PartSelect and installed it myself.

Second time around - part works great.
Second time having to replace the control board for the same thing - the pushbutton dial control. Anyway, part worked great last time for a few years and hopefully we will get a few years out of this one.
