No spark at top burners, first one then eventually all 4.

Most of the repair time was spent researching the problem online, locating the spark module inside the range, and selecting the part online. Installation was easy. Key troubleshooting info for me was, if there is no clicking, the spark unit is probably worn-out. I traced the ignition wires from the burners down to the spark module, located inside a 2x3" metal housing next to the bottom drawer. I removed 2 screws and out it came. The replacement unit pictured on the PartSelect site was not identical to the original but had the same number of contacts. I ordered the part and it arrived a few days later. The old connectors slipped easily onto the new pins, and I screwed the new unit into the range using the new metal housing. All 4 burners now spark up quickly, and we saved at least $100 on a service call. It was well worth the time and effort -- thanks! Read more...

two igniters didnt function and it continued to spark after the gas ignited.

Well, after I finally got the parts, the repair was easier than anticipated. You deffinitely want to lift the unit out to replace the spark module and swap over one wire at a time so you dont forget where they go, (important on a gas stove) When I pulled out the old unit I found it was just jammed in there when constructed, I expected more from Jenn-air, and the plastic casing was broke and pulled apart. Surprised it lasted this long. Also three of the ceramic insulators on the ignitors were broke or cracked. But over all the unit was fairly simple to repair if you take your time and practice safety. Remember, you are working with gas and electicity, and use soapy water to check your connection when you reconnect the gas line. Dont try to work on it still hooked up and in its mount . Burners kept clicking after ignited

This problem was driving me crazy for months. Of course, after I bought and installed the part and it still was not fixed I finally found a website that told me how to fix the clicking. The problem is that the removable head burners (#8 on the top assembly diagram) are not making good electrical contact with the base burners (#22). What I did was grab the head burners and grind them back and forth into the base burners with the weight on the heal of my hand. Steel wool or sandpaper would work too--you just want to clean the surfaces to restore electrical contact.
If you still want to know how to replace the spark module start by removing #24. This will allow the removal of #9 (after you take the knobs off). You may have to do some fiddling cause the rubber gasket is sticky. Next there are 2 obvious regular screws for #14 and 2 not so obvious star screws in the space where the burner valves are. After #14 is off there are 2 screws on the spark module to be removed and one that you can't loosen that is in a slot. You wriggle the module out of that one. Read more...
