PartSelect Number PS1482197
Manufacturer Part Number WE1M654
This timer knob is used to set the dryer cycle by advancing the timer. The plastic can become brittle with age and crack where it attaches to the timer shaft. You will need to replace this part if it slips off the shaft and cannot advance the timer. If it constantly falls off and will not stay on the shaft by itself, it may be cracked or broken and need to be replaced. This model is roughly 3 inches in diameter and made of white plastic. Sold individually.

Timer knob cracked twice. Found out the timer switch was bad.
Removed the 3 knobs. They just pull off. Removed 6 screws on the back side of the control panel. The front (plastic panel then just separates from the back). Then look at how the switch is mounted on the plastic panel. There should be 2 small pieces of plastic that holds it in. Carefully twist the switch in the appropriate direction so it comes free. Before you remove any wires from the old switch remember what colors go where ! I used needle nose pliers to remove the connections from the switch. Make the new connections, mount the switch, put the screws back in the panel. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING. UNPLUG THE ELECTRICAL CORD !!! Read more...

broken knob that turned too freely and did nothing
I wasn't sure that a new knob/clip would fix problem b/c shaft wouldn't turn with pliers. But knob was so inexpensive I wanted to try it first. I received the new knob/clip and the dryer worked perfectly; the knob had been broken for a year before it had quit working entirely. Don't let someone tell you that you need a whole new timer before you try the new knob/clip. Still working perfectly and I'm so pleased. And my part arrived within 2 days-wonderful! Read more...

Replaced broken START knob on dryer.
Slid off the old START knob, then pushed on the new START knob.

I created and printed a label on my computer for use with the time selector dial, which must be set at or beyond 10 minutes, before turning the START knob.

I made a label that says "Minimum" with a red arrow that points past the 10 minute setting on the time selector dial.

My teenage daughter was not setting the time selector dial, to a point past 10 minutes. When she turned the START knob, the dryer would not come on, because the time selector dial was not set past the 10 minute setting.

My daughter had continually twisted the START knob until it broke. I am hoping she will be able to see the large printed label I put on the dryer near the time selector, saying "Minimum" with a large red arrow pointing past 10 minutes.

I am very pleased that I was quickly able to find the exact matching START knob for my dryer and the exact same color, from PartSelect.Com

Dryer knob broke
This story first. I went to local hardware where I purchased the dryer over 10 years ago and asked them if they could get me a new knob. I had the model number and serial number. They said sure can, but they are expensive. They told me that the knob was around $20. and that the shipping would be $10-$15. . Both was under $14.00 at this site. Just alined the knob up on the stem and pushed it on. THANKS!! Read more...

thank you to customer service for the prompt and kind handling of my order.

when i first tried to do the repair, i couldn't open the front cover of the dryer because the screws needed a special screwdriver that looked like a flower. after i bought one, i was able to open the front cover, take out the old switch(took me some time to figure it out),replace it with the new one, return the front cover, and replace the old know with the new. turned it on and VOILA -- it worked!!
