The water inlet valve on your washing machine is used to fill the tub with cold, warm, or hot water for the wash and rinse cycles. This part could have either a blue or green-colored valve body. There are two ports for water to enter and this valve is compatible with a half-inch ID hose. It has two 3/4-11x1/2 NHT hose threads. You may have a faulty valve if your washer is leaking, has no hot or cold water, will not stop filling with water, will not fill with water, fills and drains at the same time, or is noisy. To confirm that the valve is faulty, unplug the washer when the symptom occurs. If the washer continues to fill, then the inlet valve is defective.

Roper Washer Water Inlet Valve And Thermistor Assembly
Unplug the washer.
Turn the water off and unscrew the hoses from the inlet.
Unsnap the end caps from the top control panel.
Remove the exposed screws from each end of the panel (#2 Phillips).
Pull the panel out of the way and pop out the two retaining clips that hold the back of the machine to the cabinet. They are located under the control panel.
Remove the mounting screw from the valve assembly (1/4-inch driver).
Pull the back away from the cabinet far enough to remove the valve, but don't let the wires get cut.
Disconnect the wires. To unplug the solenoid connectors, lift the long tab with a screwdriver.
Disconnect the water outlet hose.
Connect the wires and hose to the new valve assembly. The red connector goes to the hot water valve. The thermistor wires (the two individual connectors) can be connected to either terminal. It does not matter if they are reversed.
Put the valve back in place and install the screw.
Hook up and turn the water on.
Plug in the machine and test the valve.
Unplug the power and reinstall the back and the control panel. The back-to-cabinet clips can be snapped back in place easily. Read more...

Roper Washer Water Inlet Valve W/bimetal Thermistor
- unplug power
- undo hot/cold water hoses
- remove two screws holding the control panel (box on top with the knobs) to the machine top
- unhook two brass colored clips holding control panel to machine top
- unplug the wiring harness secured to the top
- remove two bolts on top of back, and two on bottom
Very easy once you get started. The inside of the machine was very accessible and everything is very modular and easy to replace.
The problem for me was that after diagnosing the problem online and receiving the part, I found the *real* reason the machine did not stop filling. Inside the control panel was a large mouse nest (made mostly with a chewed wiring schematic) and mouse. It had chewed completely through the rubber hose connecting the water level switch to the tub. So when the tub filled, the switch never got the signal to shut off. Got rid of the mouse and replaced the hose. Wound up installing water mixing value anyway since I had the part and the machine apart. The old valve had a lot of crud built up in it. With the new value the water pressure was much better.
So the moral might be to take your machine apart and have a look around before ordering the part...it may not be what you think... Read more...

Roper Washer Water Inlet Valve

This water inlet valve attaches the water lines to the back of your appliance. The attaching solenoids on the valve open and close according to the desired temperature, or amount of water needed. Sometimes these valves are called mixing valves, because they essentially mix the cold and hot water together to create “warm” water. Another common term is water solenoid.
