Water didn't always shut off when you removed your cup. Thought it was just the spring but on disassembly found broken plastic that was preventing the spring from working properly.

- With a plastic thin putty knife remove the trim panel around the water dispenser. There are plastic clips along each side that just need to be slid inward slightly to release the trim. The thin plastic putty knife worked great for this.
- Remove the electronic panel by pushing the top of the panel down slightly to pull out at the top. The bottom will then come out easily. Remove all electrical connections so the board can be detached completely.
- Unscrew the four screws at the corner of the Dispenser Housing Shield. Before removing, note the position of the wire runs for re-installation.
- Take some pictures of how the old Ice Funnel is attached then remove it and reinstall the new Funnel.
- Make sure wires are in their proper place before screwing the Dispenser Housing Shield back in place with the four screws.
- Connect wires to back of electrical panel and angle the panel into the proper place at the bottom and then pull down slightly to go in the top.
- Reattach the trim by gently pressing the plastic tabs into each slot.

I applied heat to the area with a hair drier. Used a little too much heat and deformed the ice funnel which also controls the water spigot. Ordered a new ice funnel from PartSelect. Part arrived in about a week and included a schematic of the mechanism which made disassembly and reassembly very easy. In a short time everything was working like new.

Removed outer trim by pulling it carefully out of its clips. Then disengaged the electronic display card by grabing the bottom of the card to disengage the card from the upper clips. I leaned the card forward and disconnected the wire connectors. Removed the 4 screws to take off the frame that contains the funnel. Remove the broken funnel from clips. Note study how the spring is engaged. Note position of the rubber funnel how there is a gap for the water tube. Removed the rubber funnel and attached to new funnel dispenser. Start at one end of the rubber flap and work around engaging the rubber into tabs. Replace the Funnel dispenser back into frame. Make sure the longer wire of the spring sits flat on the plastic frame and that the right elbow of the spring raps around the edge of the funnel. Secured the frame assembly back into the Refig using 4 screws and attached out trim starting withe bottom tabs engaged first.

Followed video for replacing the ice chute flap solenoid replacement because getting to the ice funnel took same steps of disassemble. Looked at how the existing funnel was set in the housing, where and how one spring was located, where the switch and its activating arm on the ice funnel were located, took old one out and put new one in. Cleaned everything in process.

The water/ ice will not stop running unless I lock the dispenser or gently move the control lever around until it stops. Have already replaced solenoid and going to replace the springs on ice chute.
Chris Boyle Profile
Hello William, Thank you for the question. You may have a defective Dual Inlet Water Valve, PartSelect Number PS304374. The valve can become stuck open and allow water to continued to flow through. You can also test the Micro Switch, Part Number: PS8259956 for continuity with a Multi Meter. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

Does the spring come with ice funnel?
Chris Boyle Profile
Hello Robert, Thanks for your question. The spring is sold separately from the ice funnel and is dependent on the model number for an exact part. I hope this helps.

Will not dispense water what could be the problem
Chris Boyle Profile
Hi Fred, Thank you for your question. I would first suggest checking the water inlet valve with a multi meter to be sure that part is working correctly. If that part is fine you may need to also check your dispenser door solenoid and your micro switch. Good luck with your repair.

The flap on ice maker is not opening and closing properly. Therefore, when i dispense ice it all gets blocked in the funnel behind the flap. So i have to open the freezer door and push the ice manually down the opening causing the flap to open. If i dont the ice stays there blocking ice behind it from dispensing.
Chris Boyle Profile
Hello Frank, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: the recess door spring, dispenser door recess crank, and dispenser door solenoid assembly-which is what actually opens and closes the flap. Hope this helps!

Water constantly drips from tube at dispenser. What controls the water flow. Is it the funnel that you push in to dispense water?
Chris Boyle Profile
Hi Thomas, Thank you for your question. Actually that would be your water inlet valve that controls the water flow. There are two solenoids on your water inlet valve. One for the water and one for the ice maker. I would suggest checking the one for your water. It could be that it is malfunctioning. I hope that helps! Good luck with your repair.

The rubber ring around the outside of the dispenser came off. Now ice splays our wide. Does this part fix that and fit my model?
Chris Boyle Profile
Hi Emily, thank you for your question. Your funnel does not have a rubber gasket on it. The rubber portion is actually part of the ice door which I have listed below for you. Good luck with your repair.
