How would the upper agitator interfere with agitation? Mine is not broke. I’ve changed the hub kit, no luck. Would the lower part of the agitator need replacing? The machine spins great
For model number WTW4855HW1

Hi Cindy, Thank you for your question. If your washer is not agitating, the upper agitator is one part that you will need to check. There are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will also need to check the drive pulley, the shift actuator, the drive block, the door lock assembly and the washplate. We have included a link that you may reference on how to check these parts. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

Does whirlpool this model have springs in it and if it does where are they located? If a belt is broken would it hit the sides of washer only in spin cycle?
For model number WTW4855HW1
PartSelect logo
Hello Rhonda, thank you for writing. When shock absorbers weaken or become damaged, unbalanced loads will cause the washer to shake or move and the machine will often make a loud banging sound during the spin cycle. The Shock or Suspension kit is part PS12349409.

Hub had warn its grooved teeth off and washer wouldnt agitate
ordered hub and it shipped quickly. I was able to put the hub in place and screw the screws in. you want to tighten them down slowly and go around to each screw tightening a little at a time so you don't break the hub. as you tighten the screws down the hub slides down flush. its impossible to just push the hub on with your hand. Buttoned it back up and got caught up on laundry. good day when the washer is fixed.

Noise, grinding sounds. Wash tub stopped turning but motor and cycles kept functioning. Process of elimination, must be the clutch assembly.
