Hot water fills, but cold water runs about 10 seconds and stops the. The washer will try to start washing.
For model number RTW4516FW1
Hi Gary,
Thank you for your question. If the washer is not filling with cold water, you should check the water inlet valve to see if it is working correctly. The valve should be found directly behind the hose connections. Looking for signs of damage, cracking, or wear, visually inspect your washer’s valve. The valve has screens inside it that may have built up dirt or debris, if so, it should be carefully cleaned as if these screens become damaged, you will need to replace the entire valve.
The resistance of a properly functioning valve varies from model to model, refer to your owner’s manual to determine what the reading of your test should be. To test for continuity, place the probes onto the valve’s terminals with your multi-meter set to Rx1. If you do not receive a reading that indicates continuity, you will need a replacement water inlet valve. I would check the door lock as well. If this part is not working correctly, this will cause issues throughout the washer. Here is a link from our website on some other parts that you will need to check to see what may be causing the issue, https://www.partselect.com/Repair/Washer/No-Hot-Cold-Water/#Water%20Inlet%20Valve. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Water will not shut off keeps running and floods the floor until turned off
For model number ntw4705ew0
Hello Larry, thank you for your question. If the water continues to flow when the plug is removed from the wall the water valve would need to be replaced. If it shuts off when the unit is unplugged the issue could be the valve, or water level pressure switch. I hope this helps!

When i wash in cold water it starts off filling with cold then stops and fill with hot.
For model number mvwc555d01
Hi Lisa, thank you for your question. The part to check first would be your water inlet valve. The valve can be tested with a multi meter and should be reading between 500 - 1500 ohms of resistance. If that part is fine then the issue might actually be in your control board. Good luck with your repair.

The washing machine gets no hot water. Water supply and hoses/ screens good. Cold water comes in but no hot water. Could it be the fill valve?
For model number WTW4616FWO
Hello Michael, thank you for your question. Yes, the if the hoses and water supply were checked but the unit doesn't get hot water, the water inlet valve would have to be replaced. I hope this helps!

Do these washers ever get clogged and if so, how would one go about unclogging them?
For model number WTW5000DW1
Hi Patricia,
Thank you for your question. Certain washer parts may become clogged overtime through use. The drain pump may become clogged with gunk preventing the water from draining. You will need to remove and inspect the pump to verify if it is clogged. If it is you will need to either clean it or replace it. Check the hoses as well for any clogs and clean or replace them if necessary. If the detergent dispenser becomes clogged with detergent, try using distilled white vinegar to clean it. Pour it into the dispenser and run the washing machine on a regular cycle. The vinegar should remove clogs and any residue. Make sure you clean the detergent drawer every month. If the screens in the water inlet valve become calcified, you can try soaking the screens in a solution of vinegar. If they just have dust and grit on them, you can try brushing this off. This may work. The screens on a water inlet valve are fragile and can become damaged. If these methods do not help to clean them, you may need to replace the water inlet valve. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Cold & Hot water Valve Replacement
Turn off the water at both the cold and hot. May need an bucket to catch any water left in the lines. Then unplug the washer to kill power of course...Taking off the 10 or so small screws in the back metal cover will get you started. The tricky part is getting the clips off the back top where the knobs are. You will have 2 plastic clips and 2 metal clips, 1 on each side. Take a flat head and ease them up and out....careful not to break them! You can pull the whole control panel away from your work area. Once you have full accuses to the valves its self, it is held in by 2 screw on the top inside a slot. You can now unplug the pigtail harness. Repeat the process in reverse to get it back together and the job is complete. 30 to 45 minutes Max.

OEM water valve was allowing water to drip into the drum with no power to the valve.
Removed two 1/4” screws from the backside of control panel. Plastic putty knife slide under front of control panel to release the clips and allowing panel removal. Shut water supply off and removed both hot/cold hoses from valves. Removed the two T-20 screws which allowed the removal of the existing leaking valve assembly. Installed in reverse and it worked perfectly!!

Washer stuck on sensing
I have a Kenmore he 500 series washer that would not get out of the sensing mode. Googled the problem. It let me know it could be the water inlet valve. So I ordered the valve through Part select (mailed to me with in days of ordering) Had a towel and small bowl for nuts and screws. Shut off water to washer, disconnected hoses, used screwdriver and socket wrench to unscrew the back of washer (since it was my first time to ever do something like this on my own, I took pictures to make sure everything went back in place) replaced valve. It was an easy connection. Washer works great

The cold water side of the inlet wasn’t working.
I figured out through the process of elimination that the problem was the rubber plunger that the solenoid opens and closes. I couldn’t fix just the plunger so I replaced the whole water inlet valve and the cold water worked perfectly after that. Even though it was a little tough to diagnose the problem it was very easy to replace the part once I found out what it was that was wrong.
