KSB3 KitchenAid Blender - Instructions

After reading repair stories on this site, I used wire splicers that just fit between the coupling and housing to hold the shaft while I used pliers to remove the broken coupling. I then hand tightened the new one . It works fine now.

Hardest part was taking off the old coupling. I locked the drive with a thin wrench and pryed the coupling off. Took about ten minutes to get off and two minutes to put the new gear on. Remember the thread is counter clockwise. PartSelect was great the part arrived in two days.

using the screw driver I pryed up on the old coupling as out line in the instructions that came with the part. The old part cam off easily and the new one just screwed on. The replacement took only a few minutes.

Went easy

My husband lifted off the old piece with some difficulty and then just screwed it back on. We were really glad to have our blended back as good as new for under 20$!

simply hold the axel with the wire stripper to prevent from rotating. Using the pliers firmly turn old coupling counterclockwise until loose. I inserted a metal rod in the bottom of the base while I held it sideways to keep the motor from turning and I used pliers to twist the coupling off counterclockwise.

Of course when the new one came days later it was easy to twist it on. Thank you for all of your stories. They were very informative and encouraging. Without them I'm not sure if I would have attempted it myself.

Read prior reviews from people who have done the same repair. Grasped shaft with thin nosed pliers and turned drive coupling counter clockwise.

I followed the instructions on the sheet that came with the replacement part. The instructions are accurate, however, the working is misleading. I think additional information is needed to make the install easier. First, a flat head screwdriver works best. Also, all the rubber that is on the broken coupling needs to be removed before tryi ... Once all the rubber has been removed then it becomes easier to see the metal rod that holds the coupling and distance between the coupling and the base of the blender, take the screwdriver and gently pry the coupling off in an upward movement while going around in a circular manner. Then you can see the coupling rising up from the rod. Then take a hold of the broken coupling and pull it off. Then attach the new coupling, screwing it on counterclockwise. Once you realize what is going on, it's actually quite easy.

Because the old coupling was so tightly screwed onto the shaft it was necessary to use very flat wire crimpers to slide between the old coupling and the blender housing to grip the shaft and immobilize it while pliers were used to grasp the old coupling and loosen it---rotate clockwise.

Simply followed the online video instructions. Screwdriver to remove the worn out part. Rag to clean threads. Hand tighten replacement part (reverse threads). Blender fully functional. Couldn't have been easier.

place screwdriver under old coupler and pried up on it in different spots until it popped off. Took less than 5 min. to do.

Part is left hand thread. Use screwdriver to lock motor fins and twist off part.

Used a wrench 19/64 flat

Pried the old coupling off and unscrewed the metal piece remaining then screwed the new coupling on.
