Used fingers to pull damaged cover away from microwave interior body. Used fingers to snap replacement cover into open slots.

Cover snap right into special slots.

After reading oven manual , used screwdriver to remove appropriate screws from behind vent. Slid vent out then cleaned vent with dish liquid. Removed old filter by simply sliding it out from easily accessed position. Inserted new filter. Replaced vent with screws. Easy, and the microwave still doesn't work.

Unscrewed glass panel, removed old bulb, cleaned glass panel and installed new bulb. Screwed panel back into place.

Problem was due to a faulty door switch. Replaced with a new switch and the microwave now works fine! Only thing that was tricky was that LG uses the hex screws with a peg in the middle to keep the microwave cover on. Had to use a small screwdriver and pliers (on the screwdriver) to unscrew the screws.

Took off cover and checked all of circuits (& fuse). Had continuity until I got to turntable motor. Little motor on bottom of micro.It did not have continuity. I thought - looking at circuits - it had to be motor. When I got new motor - I was surprised there was no continuity through it but I was confident it was what I needed . But motor ... Initial failure of over range microwave Aug 3rd. Control Panel worked but no heat. Took to local LG authoriaed local repair place. They fixed it quickly and we re-installed it. Worked fine for 2 months then had similar failure again. Agaim took to same authorized repairer. They kept unit for 3 months but finally concluded theu could not ... Read more fix it and suggested we contact LG for a partial refund. When they tested the unit during re-assembly in my presence, there was a blue flash and the fuse blew. Since we had built a custom tile mural back splash around this unit, I brought it home, ordered a number of time delay fuses new capacitor and two new high voltage diodes. However, using my Fluke DMM, I checked the existing capacitor and high voltage diode and they checked OK so I just replaced the time delay fuse. The high voltage transformer leads had 2 possible ways to connect to capacitor and diode. Tried one way, plugged unit in and turned it on, and immediatly blew the fuse. Replaced the fuse and reversed the high voltage transformer connections,amd turned unit pn, and it worked perfectly. Since we had experienced several power failures during the time of the original failure, the repairer concluded that power spikes might be at fault, so I also purchased a TrippLite ISOBAR4ULTRA 3300 Joule surge protector between wall outlet and microwave, and re-installed over range. It has worked perfectly since.

The outer glass on the microwave door seems to be to heavy for the plastic frame and the frame breaks on the lower left hand corner. I am trying to correct this by supergluing the glass to the plastic frame that's being replaced in hopes that the glass will support the frame. This is why the job is a bit difficult and lengthy.
1) Re ... Read more move the upper louvered grill from the top of the microwave.
2) Open the door 90 degrees and lift up, the door it will come off the hinge pins, hold on to the door or it will fall on the floor.
3) Lay the door outside face down. There are openings around the hinge plates, use a screw driver or a small lever to reach thru these holes and carefully start to pry the black plastic frame from around the inside door glass. Once the frame is up far enough to get a dull knife blade under the frame pry carefully all around and remove, this is probably the most difficult step.
4) Remove the two or three Phillip's head screws that hold the handle on and remove the handle.
5) Now the outside frame can be levered off the main metal door frame, the outer glass is held in place by the outer frame so use care not to drop it.
6) Clean everything up. This where I use the superglue to hold the glass to the replaced outer frame, I probably wont know for six to twelve months if it does any good.
7) Reverse order to assemble,

Pop old one out and replaced it with new one.

Removed one screw lowered glass cover removed burned out bulb replaced with new one put glass back reinstalled screw. Dune 5 minutes back in business

Cleaned area, installed new cover secured with plastic revit.

All the electrics worked on Amana microwave EXCEPT for the cooking function. Inspected the control board and found the upper switch on the door interlock was burnt. You had alerted that it was imperative to unplug unit before starting to remove defective bulb. As described, there was silicon on bulb and socket and bulb broke upon my attempt to remove. Had to use needle nose pliers to get metal base of old bulb from socket, then all went well.
