Ice maker stop making ice
0 of 1 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Roy from Blanchard, OK
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Wrench set
Looked up the part and found it on PartSelect. I was exactly like the same as the part I had to replace, there for I didn't have to make any new adjustments to the part to fit. I also read the story by others that had the same problem on the website. I had anticipated the part was bad, because no water was getting to the tray. I ordered the part and did the repair pretty quick.

Ice maker quit making ice
  • Richard from Homeland, CA
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers, Socket set
I followed the video that came with my email receipt but i had to use the extra electrical adapter, there is no where to put the extra wiring so it is hanging next to the wall. I was glad I didn't have to unplug the fridge. just kept the wire up so no water would come out. It took several hours to start working and it doesn't make as mu ch ice as the old one, but at least it works. It was a very informative video. Thanks

not makinig ice due to lack of water flow to maker
  • David from Manlius, NY
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Pliers
Followedinstructions that came with kit. Kit parts were unnecessary as new valve fit in exactly as old one had been. Quick connect for flow out of valve to maker was a surprise as no threaded connection present and no nut necessary; simiply push the line into place. Reconnect water line, check for leaks and refasten back covering. Inst ructions with kit contained an incorrect drawing of connecting water outflowline; a one page addition verbally gave correct info, but detailed step by step instruction for this one connection was confusing. Otherwise, could not have been easier; surely a do-it-yourself project.

I noticed that the two gears weren't meshing together so upon inspection I saw that one of the gears had an inner piece missing making it weak so it kept popping out away from the other great. I ordered the new gear and unscrewed the old one off and put the new one on. So easy. It made Ice beautiful after that

Side Mounted Ice Maker Quit Functioning,
  • Sandra from Casper, WY
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Nutdriver
1st my 72 year old husband has not had great success in repairing anything: electrical or plumbing. We got the part the next day. Had ordered it late one afternoon and had it the next morning in Wyoming. From the time we took it out of the box, disconnected the old one, plugged in the new one, remounted, it took less than 15 minutes. Amazing and it works great. Didn't need extra electrical connector, but tricky part on electrical connectors is to squeeze side to take apart and put back together. He used mirror to see the screws to loosen to take out and put back in ice maker. Next day our tray was full of ice. Good service/Good Product.

no ice
  • Larry from Plains, KS
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins

instructions were very simple. Took about 10 minutes to replace the unit. Do NOT get excited about immediate ice because it took mine awhile to g et cranked up for full production. Anyone can do this! Saves about $150.00 in labor to have someone(no smarter than you) do it for you.

Not making Ice/ unit not calling for water
  • Bob from Celina, OH
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers
Unplug refrigerator power cord. Remove ice cube bin. Place wire signal arm in down (off) position. Ice Maker is held in place by two (slotted/hex headed) screws through keyhole slots over the top of Ice maker along the left side of freezer. Use mirror to locate screws then carefully loosen (do not remove) screws with a nut driver or scre w driver. Lift Ice maker up and right until it releases from the screw heads. Unplug electrical connection. A flat screw driver may be required to loosen connector. Connect new unit electrical and Install new unit over screw heads and tighten screws. Replace Ice Bin and place wire signal arm in the up (on) position. Reconnect refrigerator power cord. After freezer cools down sufficiently it will start making ice.

Ice maker would not make ice or fill up
  • Brian from Louisville, KY
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
Followed the video instructions posted below the product. Its a tight area to work in but it can be done. It did not immediately start making ice. I waited and waited.... 3 hrs 4 hrs still not filling up or making ice. Finally I decided to pour some water in the tray and see if it would freeze ice and dump it. It did and immediately start ed to fill up on its own after that! Its been working perfectly ever since! So dont be alarmed if yours doesnt work immediately and try pouring some water in it if yours doesnt being working within several hrs. I am happy I was able to do this myself and save repair man costs. Its just not work the cost they charge for older appliances.

The part could not be installed without home made angles which were attached to unit so that it would only protrude from back of refrigerator about 2" instead of 6".

Ice Maker was overflowing into ice bin when filling
  • Denise from Manchester, NH
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers, Wrench (Adjustable)
Thought we'd try the Water Valve before replacing the ice maker. Ordered new valve online on Saturday, it arrived on Tuesday. I installed it twice in less than 30 mins. Had a little leak the 1st time, so I uninstalled it, trimmed up the water line with a box cutter and reinstalled without issue. No leak this time. Easy Peasy. My hus band said "You're good, you." :)
