14384 - Instructions

Looked at other peoples repair on website, and kind of followed their lead. Did not have to unhook water lines from pump. Other than that follow other peoples repairs.

Followed the video.

Removed front of dryer. Located thermal fuse, replaced blown thermal fuse. Reassembled.

Followed the instruction from the video. I am very satisfied with the accuracy of the instructions.

I found a YouTube video that was for the drive motor coupling that had the sound the machine was making. Then after ordering the part, I followed the video here. I was able to do the repair without unhooking the water by tilting the washer. Only thing I would like to add is that it took me two tries because the part is newly improved and ... Read more tighter so I hadn't pushed it on enough. Smelled burning and banging, so I found another video explaining how to use a socket and hammer to gently tap the coupling onto the motor until it is flush with the inside. Put it back together and wallah. Good to go. Done by a 49 year old woman for under $20.

I first tipped the machine on its side, so that the motor and gearbox would be exposed. I disconnected the hoses from the water mump, and removed it. First I removed the center cover of the tub, then removed the bolt that was underneath it.
I then tipped the washer back far enough that it wouldn't fall forward.

Next I removed the two hoses connected to the motor/gearbox assembly.
I then removed three bolts that hold the gearbox/motor assembly to the bottom of the t ... Read more ub and slid it down.
The next step is to separate the gearbox from the motor. To do this I removed the spring clips that hold the water pump to the motor, and then the spring clips that hold the gearbox to the motor.
The broken coupling between motor and the gearbox was then removed and replaced with the new one.
Next, put every thing back together.

I looked up the problem on Utube and saw a demo on what three items to check with a volt meter for continuity or resistence on either the start button, the door switch, or the thermal fuse. The first two checked out OK but the fuse was dead, no resistance or ohmns on the voltmeter. I had trouble locating it on my dryer as the Utube site s ... Read more aid to pull the rear cabinet off when actually it was under the front panel below the dryer door sitting in an awkward position right on top of the dryer motor. I used 2 flat head screwdrivers to pry open the latches over the panel door that are located about 4 inches in from either end and then used a small right angle screwdriver with a flash light propped against the heating elements (after I removed the cover plate) to see with and to give me more room to loosen just two tiny screws that attached the fuse to the motor. Voila! It works better than before.

My model was not featured on the video. It's probably too old. I had to remove a side panel and turn the machine on its side. I removed the pump and took out the motor, replaced the old parts and reassembled. A lot of time was spent trying to figure out how to access the motor and pump. Also, the metal ring used to strengthen the part mad ... Read more e it difficult hard to put on the shafts and time was spent trying to properly seat the motor back in place. This part didn't solve the problem. But the machine runs quieter.

Unplugged power cord and disconnected the water hoses. Removed screws holding timer and switch unplugging wires to safeties to durm cover. Unsnapped clips holding the cover to frame back and then removed the cover tipping it forward. Removed pump by unsnapping the clips holding it to the motor and then removed motor by taking screws ou ... Read more t and then unsnapping the clips. Removed broken coupling halves from both motor and transmission. This took maybe 30 minutes. Installed new coupling by driving onto shafts of transmission and motor with hammer and screwdriver used backwards. Attached motor after aligning coupling halves. Screw clips into place and then replaced pump and clips holding it. Turned motor by hand to make sure everything rotated properly. This took maybe 45 minutes. The rest of the time was spent trying to get the cover to line up on the base tabs. Was not able to get this done so ended up getting one side to fit and the other side I used self tapping screws to fasten the cover to the frame. Of course doing this after 2 hours of trying to keep the cover in line with the tabs trying to hook the clips at the top. With the screws holding the cover to the base no problem of getting the clips in place at the top and then mounting the electrial/electronics to the top. Finished by hooking up the hoses and plugging in the power cord and then testing everything out and all work great and noticed less noise coming from the machine than in the past. The cover engineering leaves something to be desired.

Watch the video! - it a huge help with getting to the coupling. Actual coupling repair is straightforward, but I needed to tap it on with a deep socket. Biggest problem for me was removing and re-installing the cabinet - that's where the video comes in.

after draining washer, I put washer on back. I disconnected water pump, then rmoved motor coupling. Confirming the coupler was cracked, I simply removed ,replaced coupler, connected water pump and positioned washer. I thank this site for assisting me with the fix of my washer.

Removed the screws under the trim on either side of the control console then rolling the console back was able to remove front of washer. Laid washer on back and was able to get to motor pump and coupling. U Tube has very good video on how to.
