Unplugged power cord. Removed rear panel screws and panel . Removed the two wires connected to part. Removed two screws holding part and replaced all components in reverse order.

Looked for part, found this site looked at repair video on the website, look fairly easy, ordered the part, and now its fixed.Thank you

laid the washer down and removed the two straps holding themoter to the gear case.Removed the motor then i removed the broken coupling installed the new one.easy as 1,2,3.

unplug, Tilt back washer, remove motor clips with screwdriver,remove drive clips with screwdriver,remover old 3 piece coupler, tap new couplers on with hammer, then replace drive and motor.10 minunte repair.Watch a video here but there is no need to remove the cover or the hoses.

Tilt washer forward. Unbolt thingie (my HUSBAND did this, I just wash the clothes) and other thingie, install coupling, and re-bolt the thingies.

Read more ecure the pump and moved the pump out of the way, disconnected the electical connector from the motor, removed the the two screws from the motor clips, removed clips from the motor and removed the motor. The Direct Drive Coupling was easily accessable and easy to replace. I put it all back in reverse order. 30 minutes from start to finish.

I am in my mid seventies and FORGOT where I filed the owners manual. As a result I had no clue of an exploded view or a parts list but decided to give it a try anyway.

I cleaned the residue left from the old failed coupling with a wire brush and a bit of naptha.
The removal of the entire assembly (motor, transmission and pump) was simple and required removing the two wires from the motor capacitor, Unpluging the multi pin connector from the motor and removing the three bolts that held the assembly to the tub frame. The pump came off the rear of the motor by releasing the two snap/spring connectors.I pried the old coupling off and tapped th new AND IMPROVEDcoupling on until it was flush with the end of the motor and trans shaft and reversed the procedure.
I saved myself hundreds of dollars and my wife is happy!

First, I removed washer housing by unscrewing top left and right screws of the housing and then flipping the timer up to expose the housing clips. Using a flat head screw driver, pry up the clips and pull up and forward and the whole housing comes off. Find the motor near the floor. Use a screw driver to unhook clips to the hose box. Pull ... Read more the hose box out of the way. Use a nut driver to unscrew the screws that hold the motor clips in place. Pry the motor clips off and pull off the electrical clips to the motor and capacitor. The motor will then easily come out. Pry the broken coupling off of the motor and the tranmission. Attach the new couplings to where the old ones were. I had smack the couplings on with a hammer and a wrench extender that was slightly larger than the shafts that the couplings fit over. You must then place the rubber piece of the coupling onto to prongs on the transmission side and then line up the prongs fron the motor side. I had to rotate the motor slightly to get them to line up properly. Push the motor back into place. Re-attach the motor clips. Tighten down the clip screws. Re-attach the wires to the motor.Re-attach the hose cover and clips. Reverse the process of pulling off the housing (a bit tricky) and you are done.

unhook washer lay it on it's back and remove the two 1/4" nuts securing the holding straps on the motor. Seperate the motor from transmission and slip in new coupling. Reverse previous steps to reassemble. Note: remove all rubber dust from the motor so that it doesn't smoke when the motor heats up.

5. Reverse process to reassembly.

First take off the water pump by popping off the two clips with a flat head screwdriver. Loosen the hose clamps with a pair of pliers and slide the hoses off of the water pump.
To remove the motor, remove the two screws holding the clamps in place and then pop off the two clamps.
One half of the coupling will be attached to the motor shaft and the other will be attached to the gearbox shaft. Remove both halves - they should easily slide off. Place each new coupling half on the motor and gearbox shafts. They may need a little "coaxing" - I used a large enough socket to fit on the perimeter of the coupling and a slight tap of a hammer.
Install the new rubber center piece on the coupling. Rotate the motor shaft until the coupling halves line up so you can slide it into the other half of the coupling. Re-attach the motor clips (and screws) and water pump. Re-attach water pump hoses, and you should be good to go.

I read the other posts that described how to do the repair. There was tell tale black rubber shavings around the drive and motor area.

Read more ct if the washer has been run in the last 24 hrs to prevent a shock. Remove the two clips holding the motor in place. Remove the four bolts holding the motor base. The coupling is attached to the motor, use a screwdriver ect. to gently pry off the coupling. The old one will likely be round, the new part will be triangular. Same thing. Fit the platic pieces (2) one to the motor and the other to the drive with the rubber in the middle fitting into the allotted holes in the rubber. Reverse the procedure to finish. I saw there was a slightly lower price on a competitors web site by maybe 2.00 dollars. I went with this site because I received help like this I am giving you and want to reward these people for their ingenuity of having this type of forum for others. Please do the same. Doug

Just remove the covers, remove the electric drive motor. Replace the failed coupling with the improved design parts. Reinstall motor and covers. Tested OK. The new part will outlast the rest of the machine!

I followed the online video. It worked perfectly.
