Unplug from electric ? outlet. Set the meter to ohm setting, check part ,no reading. Remove old part ,check new part with meter ,get a reading of 11 or more mA. Install new part and blower cover done.

Read more my exact model, and my exact problem - motor humming, no spin in any cycle - and opining on one side of the conversation, it's the motor coupler, and giving the part number! I then plugged found Part Select, plugged in the part number, and ... there was the part, along with a video. Please give my best to Mr. Steve - The Man in my view - and the guitarist for the soothing melody. I watched Steve - "pretty simple really" - a dozen times or more, and felt ready when the part arrived UPS. Steve was working with a new machine. I wasn't. So, from WD 40 for help with removal of hoses, to struggling with clips frozen in place, it all took more work. But when I removed the motor, beheld a beautiful sight ... coupler broken in two! I replaced it, struggled for a while aligning things, then retraced steps, secured everything. Then the moment of truth, the spin cycle, and ... hummin' baby! Thank you to all concerned. Oh, the total cost of this repair: @ $30, including UPS and cost of the quarter inch nut driver I did not have in my raggedy kit bag.

You need to take apart the entire washing machine. Disconnect the motor from the gear box. I made the mistake of taking the gear box apart and spilled oil everywhere so don't do that!! Shut water off
Unplug machine
Tip machine foward
Unhook both drainage hoses
Remove strap botls
Seperate motor from gear box
Removed coupling
I had one problem when I replaced it. I couldn't get the two plastic pieces seated, but one spin cycle later all worked into place.

Took the hood off the washer, disconected the power center(timer knobs and stuff)....looked at the bottom of the whole thing.....found the motor, disconnected it from the transmission, once that happened the broken piece fell out. i then ordered the new part at partselect.com, then I put the new part in....very easy...put it all back tog ... You must remove the bolt holding the agitator in from the top before trying to remove the motor/transmission assembly. After that it's a piece of cake.

The only problem I had repairing the washer was figuring out how to disasemble it. For my washer I had to remove 2 screws on the back of the display panel. Rock the panel forward then up. Removed the springs, then remove the cabinet. Once that was done I remove the water pump. Then removed the motor. Then removed what was left of the orig ... Read more inal coupler. I chose to replace the Direct Drive Motor Coupling before replacing the lid switch because of cost and I like to see how things work. Hint: If the tub does not spin and water does drain, replace the lid switch first. That was the root problem. Follow the video instructions to the point of tipping the unit over to replace the coupling. There is about a quart of water in the unit even after the drain hose is removed. Either move the washer outside before doing the replacement or locate a sturdy pan to allow water to spill into as you tip the unit over. Lucky for me, there were some dirty towels waiting to be washed that were used to soak up the water. When you replace the coupling, tamp down the replacement piece that goes onto the transmission shaft with a large dowel and hammer. If the motor does not easily go back onto the shaft and you cannot turn the motor by hand, you need to tamp the replacement part down some more. The part ordered was correct and on-line instructions were very helpful.

This was so easy to take apart and put back together following the repair video. I figure my family saved $200.00 by doing it myself.

However, after figuring out what roughly might be the problem by turning the washer over and looking at the broken coupling -watching the video defined a completely different, and much shorter repair than I l ... Read more ikely would have put myself through. -Additions to the video are the use of a rust penetrant like liquid wrench on the coupling, a lot more prying to get the coupling off the motor shaft, and a folded up towel to absorb water when you lay the washer on it's back. For me this was a good time to clean inside the tops of the washer basket, and the surrounding tub with a longer bottle brush and some other stuff that fit the limited space. If you disconnect the drain connection from the pump at the bottom, and turn the washer upright over a floor drain, you can rinse/scrub the space all you want. If hadn't watched a different related video, I probably would have attempted to remove the tub, but you need a tool that I don't have. -big time saver!

I watched washing Machine Milke on Youtube do the repair and it was very easy. I took it apart, and ordered the part from Parts Select at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and it was at my door by 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. I put the part in and had the machine running in less than 45 minutes. My Wife and wallet love me now!

unpluged machine, unscrewed top (with controls)removed 2 clamp/springs below the controls top. Leaned the body of the machine forward, and off floor frame. removed water pump and clamps, and then unbolted the motor (two bolts).Removed plastic (3piece) motor coupling by prying it off with the claw end of a hammer. using a sparkplug sock ... Read more et, I tapped the new couplings on the motor shaft and transmission shaft. Holding the motor up while aligning the coupling was the hardest part. Installed. Reverse removal and it is back together and running smoothly. I did have some water come out of the pump when I removed it. Have some towels ready.

unplugged the dryer and removed collapsable vent then we laid it on its back. took off the lower front face with a screwdriver ( just inserted in upper margin and it popped off) then removed a couple of screws and put the new element in replaced the screws and we cleaned all the old dust and lint from in the cabinet and replaced the front ... Removed the screws holding the front cover, Removed the screws holing the heating element bracket, pulled the heating element housing out, unplugged element and removed old element. Very easy to install. The exploded pictures on website really help.
