1069650412 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

I added an icemaker kit. Everything I needed was in the kit. The refrigerator was presetup for an icemaker it was just never added. The only problem I had was that the holes for attaching the water solenoid were not pre drilled so I had to drill them myself and use sheet metal screws. The icemaker is working great.

replacement went easy most of the time was spent removing the ice build up

Removed old gasket. Wiped everything down. Popped in new gasket.
It was a little tedious, but it went in easy enough. Some reviews said the new gasket was kinked and bent. Mine I am happy to say was smooth. Don not completely remove holding icemaker screws. Unit slips over screws and drops down into place and the use nutdriver to tighten in place. Rest of unit was sound and wasn’t replaced.
After icemaker is installed wait for a while and unit self activated and creates ice cubes.

Open your door as far as it will go. Line it up with the plastic holder should just slide into place.

Very easy to install

Took the glass shelf out of the fridge in our rental home to clean and it just shattered in our hands. Did a search online and found part select, phoned to make sure I was looking at the correct part, the lady on the phone was very helpful. I first read the instruction manual then I watched the installation video. My water line to it was 3/8. Went to the local ACE Hardware to purchase a short peace of 1/4 copper tubing and the fittings to connect them together. It makes ice every 55 minutes.

rippped the old one off and carfully put the new one on with a flat head screwdriver at an angle as not to rip the new one

The repair story webpage has some problems. I want to rate it "very helpful" but it showed "not helpful". I am pleased with the order service. It was very hard to find the parts on the web. I took out the old socket by moving a clip. Reattached the electrical wires, clicked in the socket and that was it.

The part-select video showed me to do the following:

Unplug dish washer

Open the door and unscrew the screws around the inside of the door all around.

Place the screws in the detergent holder with a cap until finished.

The door mechanism is at the top and attached to two electrical wires.

Unfasten the wires from the attachment.

Take the new attachment and fasten the wires to it.

Place the attachment back in the spot and make sure handle is sticking thru the hole to the outside.

Reattach the screws.

Plug back chord.

Finished - 15 minutes

The gasket has an inner lip that fits over the edge of the door plastic liner. The old gasket was removed by pulling it straight out, in the plane of the door. Try not to pull sideways as it could crack the door liner, which gets brittle with age. The new liner had a brown magnetic strip, which holds the door closed, and this fits behi ... Read more nd the edge of the door liner. Start on the bottom of the door. A helper is useful to hold the gasket loosely vertical. A flat blade screwdriver can be used to pry away the liner to insert the new seal. Once you have worked in the lower edge, install both sides, and then the top. Some juggling side-to-side may be needed for an exact fit

Replaced gaskets on both doors. Followed the online video link that came with emailed receipt. Worked exactly like demonstrated in the video.

I watched the video that was included with my on line order, it was helpful, although different model shown . I would say it was not difficult to install, the enclosed instructions were a bit confusing.
