Light Bulb - 40W
★★★★★

151 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS2376034
Manufacturer Part Number 8206232A
This 40w light bulb is a replacement bulb constructed of glass and metal. It is an easy-to-install electrical part which produces 40w of light. If the bulb won't light up then it may be broken and should be replaced. The bulb attaches directly to an appropriate light socket and has a small screw-in base. To access the exterior light bulb, you will need to remove the panel on the bottom of the microwave using a Phillips screwdriver. If your exterior light bulb has not been changed before, it is probably held in place with some silicone. You will need to cut away this silicone to remove the old bulb. If you cannot access the silicone with a utility knife, it can be removed using dental floss. Once the silicone is removed, simply unscrew the old bulb, and replace it with the new one. Be sure to disconnect the power to the microwave before you begin this repair. This light bulb measures about 1 1/8 inches. We do not recommend using a higher-wattage bulb for this appliance, and can only recommend this specific bulb. If fixing the bulb does not solve your microwave light issue, it's possibly a problem with the socket, which means the socket and/or board will need to be replaced. This can be a more dangerous repair, so consult your user manual or a technician before attempting.

Burned out light under microwave and Filters needed changing
I just removed the multiple screws which held the hood cover on. I then attempted to remove the light bulbs from the socket. This proved impossible because the bulbs were so fragile from the heat and grease build up. To make this task much easier and probably safer, just replace the bulb housing and light bulb. The bulb housing unplugs very easily. Just replace it then screw your new bulb in. P.S. Be sure to unplug appliance before you start.

The filters are very easy to replace. No tools needed.

Hope this helps.

Manufacturer Part Number 8009
This an authentic OEM 40-Watt replacement light bulb, used in a number of household appliances. It is specially designed to withstand extreme temperatures, which is why these replacement bulbs are most often used to light the inside of refrigerators and ranges. It features a standard socket base, which means you simply unscrew the burnt-out bulb and screw in the replacement. Depending on the appliance you may require a screwdriver or nut driver to access the light bulb. We recommend you wear work gloves while handling this replacement part. It is constructed of glass and metal and is sold individually. Depending on the appliance and location of the bulb within it, you may want to consider disconnecting power and using a flashlight for easier access to unscrewing and re-screwing in your bulb during this repair.

PartSelect Number PS11747931
Manufacturer Part Number WPM0805101
This microwave fuse is just over an inch in length. It has a white ceramic center, and metal on either end. This is a twenty amp 250-volt fuse, and is used to power your microwave. If your microwave will not heat properly, will not turn on, or the touch pad becomes unresponsive, there could be a faulty fuse which should be replaced. Remember, since this part contains an electrical charge, before you replace the fuse from your microwave, make sure that the power is disconnected from the unit. This part is sold individually. NOTE: Make sure your microwave is unplugged, and your capacitor is discharged before you begin this repair. A capacitor stores large amounts of electricity even after your microwave is unplugged.

Dryer made a loud noise and vibrated badly
First I made sure the unit was unplugged. I popped the top of the unit with a slotted screw driver, lifted the top up and rested it against the wall behind the dryer. I removed the two screws - one on each side in front on top of the dryer cabinet. Then I tipped back the front panel of the dryer slightly with the door of the dryer closed. I unclipped the door switch with a slotted screw driver and then lifted the entire front panel including the door off of the the two floor clips on bottom. I set the front panel aside. Next I lifted the large drum slightly to dislodge the rollers in back and slid the drum back slowly while sliding the thin belt back on the drum until the drum was out of the unit and the belt was detached and loose. Then I cleaned the unit thoroughly, vacuumed all lint and dirt and wiped down the outside of the large drum with mineral spirits to make sure it was totally clean and smooth. Then I removed the two rollers and the roller shafts at the back of the unit following the directions enclosed. My slip-ring pliers came in handy to remove the retaining rings on the roller shafts. I replaced the rollers and roller shafts and the supplied washers and spacers as per the instructions. I sprayed a little WD-40 on the surface of the rollers and it stopped all squeaking and vibration of the drum. Next I replaced the front drum pads and runners as per the instructions. I then slid the drum back in place taking care to slide the new belt back around the drum in the same position as the old belt. Now came the difficult part - laying on the floor and reaching under the drum I positioned the belt around the motor shaft and tension pulley. This must be done by "feel" and must be done correctly!! Follow the instructions on the positioning of the belt very carefully and make sure it is in the correct position on the drum, motor shaft, and tension pulley! Next, get up and rock the drum up and down slightly to make sure it has engaged the two rear rollers properly. Rotate the drum manually one or two turns to make sure the belt is in the correct position. Then replace the front door panel by dropping it onto the two clips at the base of the unit and taking care to replace the door switch in reverse order of taking it out. Then replace the two screws at the top front on each side of the unit to secure the front panel. Lower the top of the unit back in place, plug in the dryer, turn it on and enjoy the lack of noise you have created. Read more...

Capacitor

PartSelect Number PS11743000
Manufacturer Part Number WP59001168
The high-voltage capacitor is an electronic device that holds a charge of electricity in the high-voltage circuit of the microwave. The capacitor stores electricity similar to how a battery does, but can be charged and discharged instantly. If your microwave will not produce heat, there could be an issue with the capacitor. This genuine OEM replacement high-voltage capacitor is approximately 5 inches long x 2 inches wide, and is compatible with most microwave brands. NOTE: Make sure your microwave is unplugged, and that your capacitor is discharged before you begin this repair. A capacitor stores large amounts of electricity even after your microwave is unplugged.

Sparks and loud hum from oven
1. I went to the internet to find the service manual for the Maytag microwave.
2. I opened up the oven and started measuring the resistance of the diode, capacitor, transformer, and magnetron between terminals and then to ground. The transformer and magnetron were well within the resistance limits. The diode was shorted in both directions(+-). The capacitor was fully open in both directions -- high resistance.
3. I ordered the 2 parts, installed them, and ran the oven. Worked perfect first time.
4. Reinstalled oven and worked ever since (1 week so far).
5. The secret was that the transformer had a load hum. I figured the transformer was OK. The magnetron had no short between filaments and ground to filaments. The only two left were the diode and capacitor. The first two are about $200 -- almost the value of a new microwave. The $70 repair was well worth it. If the first two were still bad, then tempted to buy a new oven.

This microwave door switch provides power to the various components in the microwave when the door is in a closed position, and interrupts power when the door is open. This door switch is approximately 1 1/2 inches long, and has 2 metal prongs called terminals that extend from its body. If your microwave will not turn or heat properly, there could be an issue with the door switch. You can check the switch for continuity using a multi-meter. With the actuator button depressed, you should see continuity between these terminals. If there is no continuity the switch will need to be replaced. NOTE: Before you begin this repair, first make sure your microwave is unplugged, and that your capacitor is discharged. A capacitor stores large amounts of electricity even when your microwave is unplugged.

In your microwave, the diode allows current to flow one-way only, converting alternating current to direct current. If you notice that your microwave does not heat properly, you may need to replace the diode. This product is approximately 3 inches in length. Before completing this repair, be sure to disconnect the power source from the microwave. The diode is located inside the main compartment of the microwave, so you will need to open it up before you can complete this repair. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer. Micro Switch
★★★★★

2 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS11741686
Manufacturer Part Number WP3405-001034
This is a micro switch, which is also known as a door switch for your microwave. The main reason for needing to replace this part is if you are not getting heat to your appliance. The door switch is located behind the front panel of your appliance. When the appliance door closes, this part will make contact with the door hook, which will allow the microwave to heat. Use caution when making this installation, as high-voltage capacitors found in microwaves can hold a lethal electric charge for longer periods of time, even if the appliance has been unplugged. It is recommended you wear work gloves for this repair.

Microwave would continue to run even when door was open. (even if no time was left on timer)
Unplugged Microwave, Removed vent cover (2 screws on top of microwave, then slide cover to the left, then forward) Removed control panel (1 screw at top of panel) then removed the two screws that hold in the door switch assembly. (these you will only see by opening the microwave). Located lower door switch, removed connecting wires, and pulled switch by releasing small plastic tab which held it in. Put new switch in place, reconnected wires, then reconnected door switch assembly. Reconnected control panel, and then put the vent cover back on. Tested microwave and it no longer runs when the door is open. Super easy fix, and was done in under 5 minutes. Read more...

The rectifier (also known as a diode) provides the microwave with energy to cook food. If your appliance is not producing heat or not turning on it could be due to the breakdown of the rectifier. This part works with microwaves, microwave oven combos, and wall ovens. This is one of the most common parts to fail over time in a microwave. This part is just under 3-1/2 inches in length. It is a genuine OEM part that is shipped right from the manufacturer. Make sure to use the proper precautions before attempting this repair. Ensure the appliance is unplugged.
