Jim from Sherwood, OR
The dispenser door was broken, would not close.
First I removed the (8) screws holding the front door panel on. Then I took the door panel off and unpluged the ribbon wiring so the door was free from the dishwasher. I then unpluded the wiring going to the dispensor. Then I removed the (6) screws holding the dispensor into place and then sprung the holders (2) so the dispendor could be removed. I stuck the new dispensor in its place, pushed it in so the (2) metal holders locked into place, then replaced the (6) screws, pluged the wiring into the new dospensor, pluged the ribbion wiring back in and replaced the front door panel and reinstalled the (8) screws that hold the front door into place. And then tested and everything worked fine.

Magic Chef Dishwasher Pin (Lid Hinge)
PartSelect Number PS11741308
Manufacturer Part Number WP3372028
The lid hinge pin or detergent lid pin on your dishwasher helps dispense your dish detergent when your dishwasher is running. The pin fits with the dispenser lid and allows the lid to pop open and dispense detergent. It is a small, plastic pin that is approximately 3 inches in length. Due to its small size, the pin can be damaged relatively easily, and if your pin is broken or missing, it will need to be replaced. This product is sold individually.

Worn out spring on detergent release box lid
First, examine very carefully how the old spring relates to the detergent release box lid. Note that the top of the spring has a square-end upside down "U" . This rests on a small ledge on the detergent box. Also note that on either end of the spring is a straight extension of the spring wire. These two "legs" must rest on the inside of the edge of the detergent box. Second, use a flat blade screw driver to pry the LID hinge pin from the mounting "posts. Remove the pin, first noting the position of the spring. Reassemble the spring on the hinge pin in reverse order. Then snap the lid onto the spring using the two mounting "posts". NOTE: I used a very fine needle nose pliers to move the two spring "legs" behind the detergent box edge after I had mounted the lid. Flip the lid down to test if the spring pressure on the lid can be felt. Harold Kitzmann, Fishersville VA

Magic Chef Dishwasher Soap Cup Latch Kit
You have to take off the nine star pointed screws. So you need a special screwdriver or I had a socket set of them and I used a ratchet to make it easier. I think there are nine of them around the base of the door. Then remove the door and set it on the counter. Flip it over and there is a small plastic cover that has to be removed from the back of it, and it is easily removed by gently pulling on it.
Now comes the difficult part. There is a locking piece on it that holds the latch onto the door by interlocking with a piece on the back side of the door. I took a pair of wire snips and just cut the old interlocking piece off. This way I didn't have to try and slide the two interlocking pieces apart.
When you go to put the new piece on before you interlock them make sure they are put on right. Specifically the latch is pointing the right way to seal the detergent door. Otherwise it can be a pain to separate the interlocking pieces again. (which is why I cut it off the old one).
Then you're done. Just put it all back together. Read more...

This soap cup latch kit, used in a dishwasher, will keep the dispenser cover closed. If your dishwasher will not dispense detergent, there is a door latch failure, the dishes are not cleaning properly, or there is leaking, then this kit can be the solution to your symptoms. The tools required for this replacement are a #15 torx bits, a small blade screwdriver, and slip joint pliers. First locate the soap box and remove the latch on both sides. Next step is to remove the screws in the inner door panel and remove the plastic cover at the back. Remove the old latch assembly and add the new one. Make sure to unplug your dishwasher before beginning this installation project.

Magic Chef Dishwasher Soap Cup Door Latch and Gasket
PartSelect Number PS1960445
Manufacturer Part Number W10131752
If the soap cup door latch and gasket is malfunctioning, the dishwasher door will leak. You will find this part mounted to the inside inner door panel. To access this part you will need to take off the door panel. Once you have this removed you should be able to see how the old part is in place. You will need to remove the wax motor to complete the installation of this part. Consider applying a small amount of sealer to the flat part of the latch, which will ensure a tighter seal.

Water Leak at right side bottom of the dishwasher door
After dissassembling the unit to discover the leakage source I determined that it would do best to replace the top three contributors to the problem as listed by you. Disassembly, parts replacement and reassembly was straight forward and a few hints garnered from your good instructions and assembly blow-up drawings made the job simple with the most difficult task being the removal of the adhesive foam gasket at the bottom of the door's interior. After scraping as much of the deteriorated foam away as possible with a plastic scraper I used some of my wife's nail polisher remover and a clean-up rag (being careful not to get the remover on plastic parts)and soon I had the adhesion area surface clean and ready to receive the new seal. With close attention to clean up of residues left behind from detergent and water and care taken with part installation and reassembly it no longer leaks and I hope to get another 10-15 years of leak free operation out of the dishwasher

Magic Chef Dishwasher Wax Motor for Detergent Cup Actuation
I was also using a gel dishwasher detergent and was told that, for some reason, it might have begun to act like glue and this might also have prevented the soap dispenser from opening. I switched to powder and that did not solve the problem leading me to replace the wax motors. The soap dispenser spring seems a little weak so I have continued using powder. Read more...

This is a dishwasher wax motor actuator that opens the dispenser cover to dispense dishwashing detergent and rinse aid during the wash cycle in your dishwasher. This is an authentic OEM part from the genuine manufacturer. It is a little over 2 inches long, and mostly red in colour. Disconnect power from your appliance because electrical wires will be exposed during repair. The wax motor is held in place by two tabs for easy release. Once you have gained access to the actuator, simply separate the two tabs and replace the part. This part is sold separately.

The Soap Dispenser would not open duirng wash cycle
I suspected that the wax motor had gone bad based on reviews I had read. The repair requires a TORX bit to remove seven screws holding the plastic cover on the inside of the door. I sat in a chair with the door resting on my knees and took the screws out. Once open, the two wax motors are under the cover and easily accessible. You simply pull the wax motors out and detach two wire plugs. You should note how the wires are attached. The wire plugs were a little difficult to pull off but with a little effort they came straight off. Once new wax motors were installed, the soap dispenser opened.I was also using a gel dishwasher detergent and was told that, for some reason, it might have begun to act like glue and this might also have prevented the soap dispenser from opening. I switched to powder and that did not solve the problem leading me to replace the wax motors. The soap dispenser spring seems a little weak so I have continued using powder. Read more...
Magic Chef Dishwasher Detergent Dispenser Latch - White
At first I thought something was broken and I tried to figure out the "theory of operation" Working the actuator of the wax motor, I COULD NOT GE THE LATCH TO MOVE THE WAY I THOUGHT IT SHOULD. I ASSUMED EITHER IT WAS BROKEN IN SOME WAY I COULD NOT DETECT OR THERE WAS A FLAW IN ITS DESIGN!
It took a long time to figure out the latch would not be worked open unless it was actually holding the lid- this positions the latch at "half mast" and allows the mechanism to "pick it up from there" and open the rest of the way. So once I figured that out, I concluded the failure was really just worn out parts that were out of tolerance for how this "half mast" position and opening was supposed to work. So I ordered all fresh pieces just to be sure, assembled it (very easy) and put it in (easy). It all works fine now. Read more...

dishes still dirty, soap remained in dispenser.
After repairing this dishwasher 5 times during the past 8 years this one was real easy: Open door, unscrew inside cover and carefully move over to one side. Unplug soap dispenser, unscrew soap dispenser and remove. Fit new dispenser, reconnect it, put inner cover back in its place and secure it with the retained screws and you are back in operation. Hans.
