If the microwave exhaust fan is not circulating air properly, there could be an issue with the grease filter. A dirty filter will cause your microwave to run less efficiently and can alter the taste or smell of your food. Filters should be changed every six months for maximum performance. These silver, aluminum filters are sold separately, and are approximately 13 3/8 inches long x 5 7/8 inches wide. Measure your current filter to assure correct replacement. Check your grease filters regularly for particles and grease buildup to see if cleaning is necessary. If there is any visible damage to the filter, it should be replaced straight away.

This grease filter, used in microwaves, can be located underneath the microwave. The filter traps grease from the exhaust air and removes it from the air stream. This helps prevent grease sticking to the inside of the exhaust hood. Please note that most microwaves require two grease filters and they are both sold separately. This is an easy replacement done by simply pulling out old filters and sliding in the new ones. For further instructions and guidance, refer to the manual provided by the manufacturer. This is a package of 2 filters. The charcoal filter is used in microwaves to remove food odors from the air. If your filter is damaged or strong odors are coming from your microwave, it is best to replace this part. The only tool needed for this repair is a Phillips screwdriver. First, remove screws at the top of microwave to access the filter. Next, remove filter and insert new filter by pushing it all the way back, so the edges hit the two tabs. The front edge of the filter should rest at the bottom of the cavity. Make sure to replace the grill after installing the new filter. Remember to unplug your microwave from the power source before the installation process. This part is metallic and measures about 12 inches wide and 6 inches deep.

Fire in microwave melted several parts
Remove the filters and use a Torx driver to remove two screws holding the motor. The wires on on the motor are held in place by a plastic clamp that must be pried open on one side. Found on the water inlet valve.

The fill cycles would start then stop suddenly
This was an easy repair.
1st I removed both water hoses
2nd I removed 1 hex head screw that released a backing plate & removed the plate holding the water inlet valve.
3rd I pulled the 4 electrical connections & loosened a clamp to remove a small water hose.
4th I removed 2 hex head screws that held the water valve to the backing plate.
-----------that was a whole 5 - 10 minutes!------------
Next I reversed the process
4th I attached the inlet valve with the 2 hex head screws
5th re-attached the 4 electrical connections(had slip on spades) pushed on the hose & tighterned the clamp.
6th replaced the backing plate with the inlet valve attached & tightened the single hex head screw.
7th re-attached the hot & cold lines................................DONE

Surface lights and filters needed replacement
By pulling the filter screens units down and out with a pair of pliers I had access to the surface lights. Pulled the lights out of their sockets and replaced the bulbs. Real easy.
