This is a drain pump assembly for dishwashers. The drain pump is what drains and removes the dirty and contaminated food waste and water from your dishwasher during and after the washing cycle. Over time and with increasing age, pumps can fail or simply stop working as efficiently, and if you suspect your drain pump assembly is broken or bad, it is worth inspecting and testing with a multimeter before replacing. Replacing a drain pump will require some disassembly of your dishwasher, and as such will require a screwdriver and wrench. This OEM drain pump assembly is sold individually and does not come with any other parts like hoses or wire harnesses.

- Shut off breaker to dishwasher
- Shut off water to dishwasher
- Disconnect dishwasher drain hose at disposal
- Remove kick panel
- Remove junction box cover and disconnect wires
- Loose dishwasher mounting screws and slide dishwasher out
- Disconnect water inlet while sliding dishwasher out

- Rotate and pull to remove pump
- Install new pump, use small amount of dish soap to lubricate the seals.
Reverse order to install. There is a video online by another vendor for this exact job, but they included a lot of unnecessary steps. I did follow that video at first, and then realized that I didn't have to do 60% of it.

Leak from the bottom center
The connector pump had a pinhole leak at the seam (new part did not have seams). Also replaced the sump inlet which looked worn and the impeller.

lastic back cover of the assembly,popped out the back cover. I used the hack saw to cut the shaft of the motor because the auger drive has a reverse thread and won't come off from the motor. I then took out the three screws that hold the motor to the plate and disconnected the wiring that's attached to it noting which wire go where. Put in the new motor, the auger drive, reconnected the wires, put the back cover on, reconnected the wiring harness to the freezer and attached the whole assembly in the freezer. Done!

Control module went out - causing the heating element to super heat, melting several of the plastic interior parts
I replaced the control module, and effected plastic interior parts - tested wihout heat, then re-tested with heat dry - performed beautifully. This is a pretty expensive unit that would cost around $1500 to replace new. And, Sears wanted $1500 to repair, so I saved a bunch doing it myself for about $350.

It is made of white and brown plastic, and is approximately 4 ½ inches long, 1 ¼ inches wide and the opening at the top is about an inch in diameter. The adaptor pump assembly connects the sump and the drain pump, and prevents dirty water from getting back in. If it cracks, it can cause a water leak, and will need to be replaced. This part is sold individually and is an authentic OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.

Rodents ate the sump inlet so machine leaked everywhere!
Turned off electric at the fuse box and shut off the water. Pulled the dishwasher out and took out bottom sprayer (pull up and twist), filter basket etc. Then put the washer on its back and removed sump inlet and adaptor. r the machine and reinstalled the filter basket and sprayer after cleaning them. Reconnected the water and turned on the power. Machine works like new!!! Total parts cost me less than $50. Repair guy wanted around $300 to do it!!!!

l. Remember how much pressure it took to take off it helps to install new pump. Inch pounds is not what most people know or use. Reassemble unit, flipped on end and tested for leaks before replacing under cabinet.
