Homelite Trimmer Spool Retainer (red-lh Thread)

This is an OEM replacement part. It has a left hand threaded screw to remove and attach it to the trimmer head. Its purpose is to hold the spool with the cutting line, in the spool housing. It also acts as the bumper to advance the line from the spool. This is a well used and abused part of the trimmer. It may be a good idea to order an extra one.

Homelite Trimmer Primer Bulb

This is a genuine Ruixing replacement part, it is sold individually. By pressing the bulb, it will purge the carburetor of air. Fuel will be forced up from the fuel tank through the fuel line then into the carburetor. Then the excess fuel will be forced back into the fuel tank through the fuel return line. At some time the primer will lose its elasticity or crack and need to be replaced. We have an article and video on How to Replace a Primer Bulb, in our Repair Center. Over time and through use, the spring will eventually lose its tension, and will break. If your starter rope has no resistance when pulling it, the starter spring is likely broken. This OEM switch is used on a variety of different lawn equipment models and is sold individually. This switch is used to turn your lawn equipment on and off, so if your equipment is either not turning on, or this switch feels loose within its housing, it may be time to replace it. To remove it, separate the two halves of the housing which it connects to, disconnect the throttle and other wires with pliers, and depress the securing tabs. To install the new switch, click it into place within the housing and connect the appropriate wires to the two terminals, and then reconnect the throttle cable and other wires, and then simply align the two halves of the housing and secure with screws.

Springs are used within outdoor power equipment to provide tension and shock absorption, depending on their application and use. This spring is designed for use within trimmers/brush cutters and is made to provide tension on the spool reel mechanism, and in some cases may be used to advance the line whenever portions of it are cut off. This spring measures approximately 1.3-inches in length when extended and comes as an individual part. If you notice the line/spool in your trimmer is not advancing or is coming too quickly, the spring may be damaged and need replacing. Since this spring is a high-use part, it is not uncommon for it to lose tension over time and need to be replaced. To replace the spring, you will need to unscrew the covering cap, remove the spool feeding reel, remove the old spring and install the new spring with the rest of the assembly. Make sure to feed the line back into the appropriate feeding holes prior to operation of the trimmer.

Replaced straight shaft, and the gear head.
Removed the 2 bolts holding the gear head to shaft. On my model I had to remove the complete trimmer head, then using 2 wrench take the trimmer head adapter off the gear heD. One video showed simply putting a screwdriver in the notch behind trimmer head and unscrewing complete head. Mine of course was slightly more involved but still quite easy once I saw what needed to be done.
