The controller (current relay) burned up
1. Unhooked a retaining wire that secures the controller to the compressor terminal box. 2. removed destroyed part. 3. Got the model and serial numbers and got online. 4. Ordered part 5. Waited a couple of weeks to get part 6. Found that the manufacturer had daisy chained a bunch of components together with some funny deep socket plugs that by themselves are not routinely found so rather than buy a laundry list of unnecessary parts to get the aforementioned plus and make my customer wait a couple of more weeks I chose to connect the wires to a couple of high temperature female stainless steel quick connectors and feed the wires directly into the controller. Fortunately the controller had the polarity marked on the housing. (L for Line was the hot lead and C was for common the neutral lead) Failure to follow proper polarity will damage the part and could kill the compressors's start wimding.

Crosley Refrigerator Compressor Start Device and Capacitor
PartSelect Number PS8746522
Manufacturer Part Number W10613606
This includes both the run capacitor and the start relay. The capacitor helps the compressor kick on and off while maintaining a constant temperature to keep things frozen in your freezer.
The start relay boosts the compressor, and then shuts off as soon as the motor gets up to speed and the overload provides extra protection against excessive temperatures.

The compressor would not run.
I removed the screws in the lower back panel where the compressor is located. Then I unplugged the capacitor and plugged the new one in. I then checked to see if the compressor would start. It wouldn't so I replaced the overload relay with capacitor and that fixed the problem. The capacitor just plugs into the relay then plugs into the compressor. There are several screws but all in all it is easy.

Crosley Refrigerator Door Light Switch
PartSelect Number PS11738900
Manufacturer Part Number WP2149705
The purpose of the light switch in your refrigerator is to automatically turn on the light when the door is opened. If the light does not come on automatically when you open the door, the contacts inside the light switch may be burned out, meaning it is time to replace the switch. This package contains both the new light switch and a small plastic spacer. To complete this repair, you will need to remove the control panel section of your refrigerator. The only tools you will require for this repair are a 1/4-inch nut driver and maybe a small flat blade screwdriver. Be sure to disconnect the power source from the refrigerator before completing this repair.

Broken light switch
Took all the screws out of the plastic shroud that encloses the switch .There only four that I needed to remove, were the two in front where the switches that go,they go in horizontally and two in the back with large washers on them that hold the back to the top of the box that go in vertically. The switch was a snap ( make that two snaps ) the wiring is almost self explanatory. then it gos back to the way you took it off. OH! and don't forget to turn the light bulb all the way back in to the socket , so the light will work after you take the time to install it yourself.I had the water supply line from under the box to the water dispenser in the door and the total bill on that was one hundred thirty seven and a hand full of change.Don't be afraid to do it yourself the savings is enough on one one item to make several months payments on a new one Randy the "Handy Man'

Refrigerator was trying to cycle compressor on, but each time the compressor started, it would stop due to the thermo breaker would open. The fans continued to run, so I figured it was starter relay.
Moved the refrig. out, removed the four screws that held the lower access panel in place. Disconnected the power cord. Removed the retainer clip wire and pulled the relays from the compressor socket. Separated the relays and installed the secondary relay on the new starter relay. Reinstalled the starter relay assembly into the compressor socket. Plugged the power cord in and listened for the compressor to cycle on. It cycled on and continued to run. Turned the power off and reinstalled the retainer clip wire. Reinstalled the access panel and plugged the power back in and left the refrig. run overnight. Checked temperature and also started the ice maker. Everything was normal by morning.

Erratic light.
Simple switch repair: Unplug fridge, pull down to remove switch assembly, slip contacts off. Reverse with replacement switch. HOWEVER, check first to see if the bulb filament might be broken, as this could cause the same symptom. OR in my case, the light socket connection was the culprit. Check that too before ordering a replacement switch.

Ice Dispenser "round chute" broken side tab, ice/water fountain not working
I could see that a tab was broken from the round chute that opens for ice dispensing and closes to seal off freezer ice chute when not in use. With the tab broken, the round door would not shut to seal the freezer chute and dispensing water would spatter everywhere. I looked for just the round door part, but is only sold in the "Ice dispenser solenoid and door kit" I only had to use the round chute/flap from the kit. The instructions were easy to follow and I had the fridge back working in about 10 minutes. It took me longer to find the right star headed screwdriver that I needed to remove the Maytag star screws (5) total. Because I didn't have to replace the solenoid or the spring mechanism, this was especially easy, and now I have those parts on hand if one day I need them!!
