No spark at top burners, first one then eventually all 4.
Most of the repair time was spent researching the problem online, locating the spark module inside the range, and selecting the part online. Installation was easy. Key troubleshooting info for me was, if there is no clicking, the spark unit is probably worn-out. I traced the ignition wires from the burners down to the spark module, located inside a 2x3" metal housing next to the bottom drawer. I removed 2 screws and out it came. The replacement unit pictured on the PartSelect site was not identical to the original but had the same number of contacts. I ordered the part and it arrived a few days later. The old connectors slipped easily onto the new pins, and I screwed the new unit into the range using the new metal housing. All 4 burners now spark up quickly, and we saved at least $100 on a service call. It was well worth the time and effort -- thanks! Read more...

This spark module or range spark module, is used in ranges and ovens. The spark module monitors and controls the spark to ignite the surface burner in a range. It does this by sending a certain amount of current to the igniter to produce that spark. If you are not getting any spark to the igniters then it is best you replace this part with a new spark module. To repair, first remove the access panel at the back of your range with a 1/4 inch nut driver to take the screws out. Next, disconnect the power harness that connects the range to the power cord to access the spark module. Take wires off using needle nose pliers and pull the spark module off the range. Match and hook up the wires to the new part. Refer to the manual provided by the manufacturer for further installation instructions and guidance.

No spark to any of the burners
I slid the range out about 8 inches from the wall, and having unplugged the range and looked at the diagram from the Parts Select site, I used a mirror and screwdriver to remove the screws holding the small rear cover. From there I removed the one screw holding the spark module and that way I was able to hold the old and new one side by side to move the wires. Reversed the process, easy peasy. Read more...

My burners would not light. There wasn't the tell tale "click, click, click" of the spark module.
First I had to slide the stove out of its cubby and then I removed the two screws holding on the shield. I next removed the wires going to the spark module. I removed the top screw and loosened the bottom one. Installed the new spark module in reverse order. Less than 15 minutes for whole repair. Still have problems with spark module not working if oven is on, but I think it is because there is no air circulation behind the stove. Read more...

Sparker would not quit sparking after lighting the gas.
Turned off the gas then disconnected the gas line. Unplugged the AC cord and removed the unit from the counter top. Had to locate a suitable area to lay the cooktop, rather large. The bottom cover is held on by 6-8 sheet metal screws, however, the gas regulator and nipple must be removed also for the cover to come off. I removed the Igniter module screws, leaving the wires connected and mounted the new module in it's place. I then removed one wire at a time from the old and put it on the new part. Replaced the back cover and reinstalled the gas regulator with fresh pipe sealant. Probably took an hour including cleaning the top and counter top. Read more...
