This is a control knob, sometimes known as a valve knob, for a range, oven, or stove. It allows you to control the temperature of the surface burner on your appliance. It is made of plastic and is black in color. This knob accepts a D-shaped shaft. No tools are required for completing this repair. Simply pull the knob straight off the post until it pops off, and reverse the process to reinstall the new knob. This is an OEM replacement part and is sold individually. You may want to consider replacing all of the knobs at once to avoid wear and maintain a consistent appearance.

the part that fits on the stem to turn the knob had broken. I tried to tape it together, but that did not work.
since it was the control knob, all I had to do was to push it right onto the stem, and it was finished. Using the web site to find the correct item was very easy.

Thermostate seized up (wouldn't turn)
Removed the burners, unscrewed the gas assembly from the stove top, removed the two screws securing the thermostat, pulled out the old thermostat, installed new thermostat and put back together in reverse order.
