RA5111J2 Hotpoint Range - Instructions

i removed the two screws that hold the element in place. i then pulled the element out and disconnected the two wires. then i connected the two wires and screwed the element back in place and now it works like new.

I logged into GE's website, put in my stovetop's requirements for size and type of trim rings, and was taken to partselect's site where I found what I needed. I ordered it and it came in less than a week!

Easy to do . Four screws,removed cover,removed switch. Installed switch,and cover. Time 1/2 hr.

It was the 1st time in over 30 yrs. that we had to throw a Circuit Breaker Switch located outside in the communal large Metal Box between Condos. Not only did it NOT cut the power off our old GE Range ... Read more - it turned off one neighbor's T.V. & another neighbor's Washer/Dryer Set.

As more Breakers were tried - MORE ANGRY NEIGHBORS ARRIVED ON THE PATIO. To complicate this - the next-door Condo just underwent extensive (read 3 Months) Renovation including REPLACING ALL WIRING..... and you might imagine the rest. No Breaker Switch numbers matched the Condo number written beside them in felt tip pen... it was complete chaos!

The repair was straight forward; Loosen the screw at the tilt mechanism allowing the burner element to come off the stove and then unscrew two electrical connectors freeing the burned element. The installation could have been as easy as reversing the procedure however the lugs on the new element were poorly placed making it difficult to a ... Read more ttach the two halves of the supplied insulator with the clips that secure the two halves. The insulator required the wires to be bent 90 degrees which further complicated the installation. A dremel and some dielectric grease completed the task to my satisfaction. It should have been a 15 minute job. The new element functions far better that the burned element prior to its demise. I should have changed it long ago. I bought the 8" element as a back-up because this stove has only one large burner. However, given my experience with the improvement of the 6", I'll change it shortly. And knowing I may run into the same installation hiccup, I'll prefit the ceramic insulator.

Took coil mounting assembly off first, then removed or took apart one piece at a time until heater coil was removed. Then installed (with furnished screws)the new coil, following entire process in reverse. 10-15 minutes time.

turn off power at breaker. lift element from stove top lift out drip bowl . remove clips and ceramic cover. unfasten three wires. using new element install three wires to new burner ,clip on ceramic cover then slide burner back in to stove top and install drip bowl turn on power and test

it was hard to figure out the instructions from A switch to B switch to my switch. The first switch was no good the second one was good. prayer book didn't hurt.thank

I called a friend who is a locksmith and a handy man and he changed the burners for me.

The repair was easy once he read the directions. The part arrived about 4 days earlier than expected. Great company.

It would have been easy, but the screws that came with the replacement burner were too long for the ceramic insulator to fit over. Had to grind down the screws fro 3/8" long to 1/4" long. After that, piece of cake.

I flipped breaker off for electic and confirmed that power to the stove was off. I removed the 2 screws holding the control unit in place. Carefully removed all knobs and buttons and pryed the cover for the control unit off. I then removed old part, removed the wired and clipped wires to the new unit. Put cover back on - has some difficul ... Read more ty getting the panel back in place to line up the screws. But after a couple of attempts, was able to line up unit and put screws in place to secure. Replaced all knobs. Turn breaker back on and cooked lunch. Very easy job. Most difficult part was getting panel back in position. I would watch alignment more carefully before I removed in next time. Easy home repair for Women...not sure about my man?

The original controls were different for the small burners and the large burners. The replacement part fits all. Before removing wires, pay attention to writing on new and old control and replace 1 at a time. The hardest part was being sure to cut the knob stem to the correct length. Control works well.
