Plastic parts on this Kitchenaid dishwasher suffer repeat wear problems from heat and chemical detergents. The retainer nut on the bottom wash arm split horizontally int the thread area, and during operation, the wash arm would rise up and hit the bottom of the lower basket so there was a worn groove in the wing on top of the nut and the

dishes weren't getting very clean. Simple replacement, just screw the nut down. Also decided to replace the bearing ring right under the wash arm because it was getting pasted with white crust-like material from hard water and chemical detergent residues. I've dealt with PartSelect twice now, and they are fast and efficient. The online parts breakdowns are easy to follow.

I removed the clip holding the old tube in place, pulled it off where it was attached to the upper rack hub and removed the cone shaped coupler from the back end of it. Installed the new upper spray arm mount. First I installed it backwards which made the blades not turn freely (rub against top rack basket). Turned it around and was good to go. I found it helpful to remove the top basket in order to do this. Note that this clip is gray while your dishwasher tines are white. This does not cause any harm.

I have to admit, I cheated...
Our dishwasher stopped working, and we called our trusty appliance repair company. They came over, and I watched him take off the control panel of the dishwasher, and he showed me how moisture had gotten into the ribbon cable connecting the control panel to the dishwasher itself, causing the short ... Read more circuit.
The repair company apparently called all their distributors but could not find the part. They apologized over and over about not being able to help me. As they were apologizing, I was searching PartSelect.com and immediately found and ordered the part.
The repair itself was simple, but our dishwasher is old and I felt compelled to clean up the parts as I took them off to replace the control panel. Be careful...some of them are sharp!
But the new control panel snapped right in, and the dishwasher has been working great for the last two weeks. This was a completely OEM part too, not a substitute part...it looks exactly like the old control panel.
I am completely delighted!

The repair was very simple once I figured out that all I had to do was peel off the damaged insert, clean the plastic surface with WD-40, and stick on the new insert.
But, I made the job much more difficult because I thought the insert was installed from inside the door. So, I removed the inner door panel as well as the control board ...
