IM115 Uni Ice Maker - Instructions

First I determined the icemaker was the problem when it was no longer calling for water. You can hear that "whistle" for 6-7 seconds when it calls for water. BOUGHT NEW ICEMAKER TOOK TWO SCREWS OUT, UNPLUGGED THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION. REMOVED OLD ICEMAKER, PUT TWO SCREWS BACK INTO REFRIGERATOR(DON'T SCREW ALL THE WAY IN AS THE NEW ICE MAKER WILL FIT ON. I DID THIS RIGHT BEFORE I WENT TO A BIRTHDAY DINNER WITH MY HUSBAND, WAS ALREADY DRESSED AND READY TO GO AND I TOLD HIM ILL PUT IT IN SO WE CAN HAVE ICE WHEN WE RETURN. Turned off water to inlet valve. Unbolted valve from back of unit, disconnect water supply line from valve, disconnected water line to ice maker. Put on new compression ring around water supply line. Pressed ice maker line into new valve, installed valve back on unit, then connected main supply line to valve. Works like a charm.

Removed power , unplugged wires and 2 screws then reversed the process 1 hour later first batch of cubes dropped into bin

After disassembling, the thermal fuse I ordered were not and exact fit, I had to cut off the ring terminals, strip the insulation back and splice it in.
It works.

Occasionally, we'd get one batch of ice cubes and a frozen lake of water in the bottom of the ice tray.

The installation was easy and I won't bother duplicating the comments of others who have installed this part.

One word of caution: The ice maker contains a heating element on the bottom. That element is apparentl ... Read more y live even when the ice bar is in the upper (off) position. When I unscrewed the old ice maker and went to lift it off the bolts, I severely burned my finger on the bottom of the old ice maker because apparently I started the repair in the middle of the heating cycle.

I highly recommend that you unplug the ice maker entirely before doing the replacement and gingerly ensure that the unit isn't hot before touching it. You'll save yourself a nasty burn.

watched the video (VERY helpful) and then removed the old icemaker and replaced it with the new one. Difficult only because of the small working space in the side by side freezer plus you can't see what you're doing when you tighten the screws. Working like a charm now.

Unscrewed (loosen) screws lifted unit out unplugged electrical connection. plugged in unit hung on screws tightened screws and had ice in less then 1 hour. Rick

Loosen two screws, unplug power, lift it off, put new one on and make sure water chute is correct place, tighten screws!

After determining the ice maker was getting water but not harvesting the ice, I ordered a replacement Ice Maker. Installation was easy. One electrical connection and two screws. Following the video to make sure I did not miss any steps I had ice in just a few hours. Just in time for a July heat wave!

Unplug refrigerator , loosing two screws. Lift ice maker up to remove from position. Disconnect electrical connection. Reverse procedure to install new ice maker.

This refrigerator is less than 2 years old. I have had to replace the ice maker 2 times now. Cheap ass parts! Only one ice maker you can order so just be prepared to replace it yearly!

It was very simple, used a nut driver to loosen the attachment nuts that held the ice maker in place. Disconnected the wiring harness. Removed the leveling tab from old ice maker and attached it to the new one. Then reassembled in the reverse order. As they say it was no brainer! The best part of the repair, was hearing the ice dump.

Removed 2 screws that hold ice maker in place. Unplugged and took out of freezer. Used the screws I took out to put new ice maker in. Plugged in the power and in 2 days I had a full ice bin and haven't had any worries since. Should have replaced the broken one along time ago but thought that the process was harder than this. Ordered ice maker, watch video of how to. It takes less than 5 min. Installes just like the video. Loosen 2 1/4" Screws, lift ice maker up, unplug old unit, Reverse. Just make sure water tube is lined up when you install new unit and wire is tucked up out of the way. Mine did not really start making ice till the next day.
