ADE20L2H Admiral Dryer - Instructions

It took longer to gather the tools vs changing the part. I was unsure how to start. Once I got started it was very easy it took 5 minutes.

UNPLUG DRYER!!
1)Opened top with putty knife pushing on the two spring clips.
2)Removed Hi Limit switch w/bracket (1 screw)
3)Removed Old Element (1 Screw)
4)Installed New Element
5)Replaced Hilemit Switch on bracket (2 Screws)
6)Reinstalled Hi Limit switch/bracket
7)Reinstalled wires/Closed Lid/Plugged ... Read more In/Started Up....No Problem

I used a butter knife to push the spring clips that hold the top down, this was the hardest part of the repair. Once the top was open it took about 20 minutes to pull out the old part and replace with the new, including running the dryer on high for a few minutes to get rid of the new element smell. Unpluged the dryer and removed the rear cover to get access to the timer. Removed the control panel and unscrewed the timer leaving the wires connected. The part was exactly what I needed and was delivered ahead of schedule. Ordering over the internet was easy and straight forward.

Daughter and I lifted top of dryer, carefully removed old element and thermostat, watching as we went how the old ones came out, and replaced with new one! Dryer working just fine!

Opened up the top of the dryer. Had to use the internet to find the broken part since the last time I replaced a heating element it was at the bottom. This one was at the top behind the drum. Contrary to instructions that I found on the web, the element is not accessed through the back. Pop the top of the dryer up and the element is visible in the top of the back . Pretty easy job.

I had to replace the whole motor, Idler spring and idler Pulley Wheel. It went well but I wish I could have replaced just the berring and not the whole motor.

After I unplugged the unit, I used a flat screwdriver to pop the top open at the front, then tipped it back on the hinge. I then used a multi-meter to test resistance through any switch or safety device I could find. The thermal fuse was the hardest one to get to and was the only one that showed open, having no resistance. I had to remove ... Read more the screw that holds the heating element in place and carefully slide the element out of the way. The fuse is held in place by a metal strip or retainer and it has to be lifted up and right as you remove it. Unplug the wires from the old fuse and put in the new one. Then reverse the order of dis-assembly, plug it in and away you go, as long as that is the only issue, which mine was.

1st replaced the broken drum belt, then the heating element failed, ordered a replacement, arrived over night thank you very much. Installed new heating element, 5 minutes later the motor failed. Bought a new dryer, ate the heater element as it is now used.

Found the heating element under top of dryer towards the back and replaced it

I unclipped the top of the dryer for access to the heating coils. I unscrewed the bracket holding the high limit thermostat (the heating element was directly below the high limit thermostat). I removed one screw holding the heating element in place, and then removed the faulty heating element. I checked the old heating element and the old ... Read more high limit thermostat with a multimeter to confirm that they were faulty - both the heating coil and the HL thermostat had continuity but the coils looked like they needed to be replaced (not rusty, but dingy). I installed the new heating element and the new HL thermostat, closed the top of the dryer and ran the dryer - it worked :) Thanks partselect.com!
