Make sure all burners on stove top are off.Half twist burner top to separate burner from stove top.The burner slide fits over the metal tube that transports the gas to the burner.Remove the 2 slip fit connected wires from the underside of the burner. They should be of different sizes so no worries about incorrectly re-attaching them. The ig niter has 2 philips screws holding the igniter to the burner, Remove those and the igniter will be able to be removed with a little wiggling.Insert new igniter thru the hole in the burner and secure with the 2 screws. Reattach wires , place burner back on top making sure the wires aren't being crimped when the burner slides over the aforementioned metal tube and twist burner to seat in stove top, turn on burner to confirm igniter now ignites properly.

Missing gasket under burner caused gas to leak out

I followed the video and it was incredibly easy. I shut the breaker off (we live in an apartment, and pulling the plug on the stove wasn't possible). I lifter out the old burner (the gasket underneath was corroded, and I just threw it out, as the newer burners are self-sealing); removed both the igniter wire and the ground wire (I needed a pliers to tug the igniter wire off); attached the new burner; replaced the burner; turned on the power; and voila!

All the burner caps had badly rusted; tip-off was the smell of gas.

  • Kathryn Truax from Key West, FL
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
Our handyman took off the burner caps and checked after we reported smelling gas. We ordered the replacements here, and they arrived by only the 2nd business day, instead of 3-5 as expected. The only hard part was scouring off the rust, with SOS pads, from the stove top before putting on the new burner caps (a simple plug-in)!! This is very important to check on your stove; you could blow-up your house! The gas was escaping under the old burner cap, through the rusted-out portions.
