It is responsible for managing the pressure and air flow inside the fuel system, by acting as a valve for the fuel tank. It allows clean air to enter the tank, while preventing dirt and debris from entering as well. Over time, the breather can crack or become clogged leading to restricted air flow, inconsistent fuel supply, fuel leakage, hard starting, and engine stalling. Locate the breather on or near the fuel tank and disconnect the hoses and fasteners attached to it. Depending on your model you may need to remove the fuel tank to complete this replacement. Place the new breather in position and reattach the hoses and fasteners. Test the new part by gently blowing into the breather to confirm that the air flow is not restricted.
