This is a genuine Briggs & Stratton replacement part that is sourced from the original manufacturer to be used with small engines. The rings are used to for a seal between the piston and the wall of the cylinder and the seal they create separate the combustion chamber and the crankcase. If the seal should be broken gasses can enter the crankcase causing a loss of compression. These rings are sold in a set of three.
