There was an excellent "how to" video on the internet which also pointed me to the part I needed. I did not even remove the dishwasher as recommended. I removed the lower kick plate, removed the power connector at the leaking input, removed the bad nut and installed the new nut.

First, I unplugged the dishwasher. After removing the under counter mounting screws, I pulled the dishwasher out from the cabinets. Because the switch is hard to reach, I put the dishwasher on its side (very carefully). Make sure to drain the dishwasher first, or it will leak all over your kitchen. To remove the switch, I unscrewed the si

ngle black screw in the middle of the switch and unplugged the electrical wires. I put the new switch in its place, screwed in the screw, and plugged in the electrical connection. I set the dishwasher upright, and ran it through a cycle before reinstalling it into the cabinet. I had previously tried replacing the water inlet valve, but that was not the problem.

The left-side dishwasher door spring snapped. The door was then noticeably heavy to open and close. To investigate the problem, I shut off the circuit breaker and the water feed. I removed the two screws that secure the top of the dishwasher to the counter, so I could pull out the unit and see the door springs. (TIP: remove the bottom met

al panel as well to see if you have a flexible or rigid pipe for hot water. If you have a rigid pipe like I do you might want to be careful pulling the unit forward.) With the unit pulled forward I could see the snapped spring; it had actually shot up and was wedged between the unit and the cabinet. To to the repair, I attached the new spring to the door first. Then I closed the door so the spring was slack and used pliers to attach it to the bottom of the unit. (To access the bottom of the unit, you need to remove the metal panel at the bottom, as mentioned above.) I used the other spring as a comparison as to where to attach.

After watching the video the replacement went very easy. The only thing I would suggest is that you replace both springs to equalize the tension.

Wrap your pliers in some kind of padding so you don't damage the plastic. Spin the base ( not the spinner itself) which is left-threaded(normal). If the gasket doesn't fall out (mine did) pull it out gently. Clean the gasket socket with a rough cloth or scotch-brite pad and install the new one. Put it all back together and wash dishes,
