Keep your Frigidaire microwave working seamlessly with this genuine OEM door latch. Designed for various models of Frigidaire, Electrolux, White Westinghouse, and Tappan microwaves, this particular door latch ensures your microwave door remains closed during operation, providing both safety and high functionality. Remember, parts may look same but the size and shape can have small variations, so it's essential to confirm your part number is correct for your model. Trust this Frigidaire door latch to maintain optimal performance and safety in your microwave.

Microwave does not close or latch, Light stays on
The Frigidaire oven the stove microwave latch is designed to fail. The mechanism is operated by the thinnest plastic hook secured to a fairly strong spring. When the hook breaks the latch no longer works so the light stays on and the microwave is inoperable. The hardest part of the repair is removing the door and reinstalling. Instructions are on the internet for the entire repair. Be sure to verify the actual length of the latch as there are several that look exactly alike but are of a different length. A temporary repair can be accomplished by using a small tie wrap and extending the spring to 4.5 cm. Read more...

Door locker snapped off
Unplugged the microwave. I opened the door. I used a butter knife to pop the bezel off the inside of the door. I pushed the locker up and to the left and used the butter knife to pry it loose. Disconnected the locker from the spring, and reversed for the installation. Read more...

PartSelect Number PS4229162
Manufacturer Part Number DE64-00760A
The microwave door key (or door latch) ensures that the microwave door closes properly while the microwave is operating. If the door key is broken, the door will not close and the microwave will not start. If you notice that the microwave door is not staying closed, check to ensure that the door key is in working order and is not damaged. This door key is made of plastic and has a spring attached to provide downward tension to keep the hooks engaged. If either of the hooks is broken or does not have any spring tension, you may need to replace the door latch. Before beginning this repair, make sure to unplug the unit and remove the inner door panel to access the door key. This part is also known as a door latch.

Microwave door did not close
Initially I called a Samsung recommended appliance repair outfit to fix the latch. The technician informed me that he does not fix latches. I need to buy a full new door for the microwave for $215 plus he charges $165 to come to my house. I got angry and did some research and it turned out that this is a very common problem. I ordered part PS4229162 "door key" $6.67 then followed the instructions on a youtube video by zimsjeep
"Repair a Broken Microwave Door Latch" to install. At first I struggled a bit hooking up the spring to the frame, but then I used a slim plier to hold the spring (instead of my fingers) and that did the trick.

Door switch inconsistent operation for Open/Close sensing.
Ordered top & bottom micro-switches and mounting plate parts. Internet reviews could not find specifics if the issue was due to a top/bottom or combination of micro-switch or mounting plate failure. Pulled the plug. Removed the top vent assembly cover held in by 2 Phillips screws inside the vent. Removed the control panel held in by 1 Phillip screw at the top vent assembly area. Lifted control panel upward to release the catch and moved it off to the side - didn't disconnect any leads. Used a Torx bit to remove the door switch mounting plates at the front and pulled the plates through the opening from the control panel. Documented the wire color code connections, the top plate uses 2 micro's with one using both the closed & open contact. Installed the respective micros on the mounting plates and worked backwards with the wiring and removal steps. Once completed, the open/close sensing has worked every time. Read more...

This top interlock support is a genuine OEM safety component designed for microwave ovens. It plays a critical role in ensuring the appliance operates only when the door is securely closed, preventing potential radiation exposure. The support holds the interlock switch in place and provides a reliable latching point, allowing the microwave to function safely and efficiently. A faulty or misaligned support may result in the microwave failing to start, operating with the door ajar, or displaying error codes related to the door lock system. Replacing this part restores proper door engagement and ensures safe operation. Installation may require disassembling the control panel and should be performed with the appliance unplugged.

One of the two plastic latches broke off, disabling my microwave
I have a GE Advantium/micorwave oven. It is the model that has the hinges on the side, NOT the bottom. First, removing the door is necessary. The grill has to be removed first, then the door lifts right out. Next the plastic backing on the door has to be very carfully taken off to expose where the new latch has to be placed. Use a flat screw driver or putty knife to go around the permiter releasing the internal, unseen, plastic catches that hold it on. This should be done carefully, to avoid breaking the catches that you can't see. After the plastic is mostly removed putting in the spring is not too difficult, but a second set of hands is almost manditory. Read more...

Power would not come on, would trip breaker when connected.
First thing I dir was search YouTube for any related videos and found this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHj4H9Fdxrc, it was the exact problem my microwave was exhibiting. Once I verified the problem by troubleshooting, I removed the part and verified that the switches were working fine, the door latch assembly showed signs of wear which was the cause of the problem. After receiving the replacement part I installed it, verified that power was restored to the unit and reassembled the microwave, works fine, hope it lasts a long time! Read more...

microwave door stuck....wont open
The reason the door would not open upon pressing the door opener is because the BRCKT-LATCH was broken. I discovered that after opening the microwave enclosing. The BRCKT-LATCH has two ends sticking out....each fits into a hole. One of the ends on the LATCH was broken and therefore it was not tightly fit. No upon pushing the door opener the LATCH would not function properly since it was loosely fit and hence the door would not open.
To Fix this issue:
1) Buy a new BRCKT-LATCH
2) Remove the microwave enclosing. I had to use a special screwdriver, since the screws were security protected on my microwave. After removing the case, I opened the door by manually pressing the door latch upwards (please make sure that the microwave is not connected to the electric socket before removing the enclosing).
3) pull out the old LATCH from the microwave.
4) carefully insert the new LATCH. Try not to put too much pressure when trying to fit the latch, or else the ends may snap again!!
5) Close the door and try opening it by pressing the door opener. it should work now!!

Microwave Door Open Lever
★★★★★

PartSelect Number PS3506555
Manufacturer Part Number 5304485407
This door release lever, also known as a door open lever, is an original manufacturer replacement for microwave/oven combos. When the door release button is pressed, the lever releases the door latch, allowing the door to open. The lever can fail due to physical damage or wear over time, making it difficult or impossible to open the microwave door. You will need to remove the microwave cover/housing to access the lever. First, unplug the microwave from the power source to prevent electrical hazards. Locate the control panel and remove the fasteners that hold it to the microwave frame. Make a note of how the wires are connected to the terminals on the control board. It can be helpful to take a picture for reference. Pry the door release lever off and press the new one into place on the control panel. Reposition the control panel on the microwave frame and reattach the wire connectors to the appropriate terminals. Make sure it is properly aligned before mounting it in place with the fasteners. Reassemble the microwave and reconnect it to the power source.
