When the starter rope/cord is pulled, the crankshaft rotates, and this begins the combustion process that allows the engine to run. If the starter assembly is not engaging or you have difficulties with pulling and retracting the rope rope, the most likely causes are a worn-down rope, damaged housing, or broken recoil spring. Loosen and remove the fasteners that hold the assembly to the engine. Pull off the assembly and position the new one in its place. Secure the assembly to the engine and test your equipment by pulling the rope to check that it can engage and start the equipment.

This OEM plastic throttle trigger and rubber-insulated cable in your lawn equipment control the fuel and air flow to the engine, determining its speed and power. They are typically located on the handle, with the cable connecting to the carburetor. If these parts are broken, you will notice an unresponsive trigger, fixed engine speed regardless of trigger position, or difficulty starting or stopping the engine. To remove the throttle trigger and cable, consult your user manual for specific instructions. Remember to turn off and cool down the machine, disconnect the spark plug wire, and use a screwdriver to remove any fasteners on the trigger. Trace the cable from the trigger to the carburetor and release any clamps or clips holding the cable in place. Finally, pull the throttle trigger away from the handle and remove the cable from its housing. Please keep in mind that this trigger and cable set does not come with the housing or other components.

The air cleaner cover goes next to the air cleaner element. It might require a screwdriver and a socket set to replace this item. It will need to be replaced if it breaks. Southland Reverse Drive Belt A reverse drive belt is used within outdoor power equipment within the transmission to enable the reverse gear functionality and allow the user to move the equipment backward. This reverse drive belt is a 5Pk740 belt, meaning it is a multi-ribbed V-profile and measures 740mm in length/circumference. This belt is made of high-quality materials and connects directly to the reverse tensioner pulley in various models of tillers and is sold as an individual part. Over time and due to heat, friction, and stretching, this belt can eventually wear down. If you notice poor performance from your tiller when reversing or hear squealing and other unusual noises, inspect both drive belts for any signs of visible damage. To replace this drive belt, make sure the engine is cool and disengage the spark plug cap. Use a wrench to remove the belt guards on top and below the belt, if necessary. Then, using 2 wrenches, disconnect and remove the securing idler bolt and any washers, after which you can remove the belt through the bottom of the unit. Check to make sure the forward drive belt is in good condition before you install the new reverse drive belt. Pull the reverse drive belt up through the bottom of the unit and install it to the appropriate pulleys and tension wheel, followed by any washers and the securing bolt which you will need to tighten. Then simply replace the belt guards if applicable.
