The auger was rusted with age and made the ice taste bad.

  • Robert from Azle, TX
  • Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers, Socket set
The disassembly and reassembly was straightforward but the parts diagram was very helpful to help you get it back together. Make sure you get the convexity of the clip that retains the clear plastic barrel to the auger pointing in the right direction. The metal plate that that comes out with the assembly seems to rust as fast as the au ger, so you should just order that when you order the auger. I did not replace the plate so I cleaned it and painted it with epoxy paint before I reassembled.

Ice Maker flapper
  • Roy from Paso Robles, CA
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers
Your Video really made it easy, showing the actual replacment of the part. However I did have one problem, which was I could not unplug the panel just by pulling on the plugs. A locking catch is on each plug so I just moved the panel out of the way.

Ice accumulation inside the ice dispenser.
  • David from Raleigh, NC
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers
I watched the Utube video, repeated the process at home while awaiting the part, and installed the flapper door in about 15 minutes after it arrived--piece of cake. The hardest part was removing the escutcheon plate on the front of the freezer door. I figured out I could slide a putty knife under it and the rest of the project was compl eted in no time at all.

Auger was rusty
  • Jack from Dallas, TX
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Pliers, Screw drivers
Easy to take apart just keep track of all your screws and parts most inportant of all are the 3 claw like and spacers that are inside the clear round part at the end of the ice bucket these pieces only turn in one direction if you put them on backwards or in the wrong order you will tear up your ice bucket so pay close attention when taki ng it apart and reassembling it. One think that might be helpful is to take some pictures of the ice bucket before disassembly something i wish i had done prior to taking it apart. Some people download instructions off the internet but i felt like i could do it with out help well good luck

Frost on inside of freezer.
  • ERIC from DAYTON, OH
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
Since my refrig is 18 yrs. old and I never had to replace it, took a little long to remove trim piece on the outside. After that repair went smoothly. I still have problem with water collecting inside on the bottom of the freezer, might have a leak somewhere. Ice maker is functioning correctly.

flapper was locking open periodically.
  • Craig from Nags Head, NC
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
Replaced flapper, which was in surprisingly good condition. Major part of repair was removing a lot of mold incurred from long term seepage of room air into the ice channel. In the process of the repair, I discovered that the solenoid to the right of the flapper was hanging up badly. I removed it and cleaned both the plunger and the inter ior cone of the solenoid with alcohol. This removed quite a bit of rust and some mold. Reinstalled solenoid, replaced flapper and it works just fine. May need to replace solenoid if problem recurs. Certainly worth $37.00!

Rusty Ice
  • Mercer E from Gilbert, AZ
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers, Socket set
I replaced tie ice Dispenser Plate & thye ice Bucket Auger.I read the previous installation instructions written on this website first.Good info! I copied the Parts diagram on the website, this really helped. I also took my phone camera and took pictures as I was taking the parts apart. The only problem I had was with the Wire Actuator Di splay Rod,making sure the spring tension was correct and positioned the correct way when I reassembled it. I was able to look at my pictures and assemble it back the correct way. I put the ice bucket assembly back in the refrig and it works great. No more rusty Ice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ice auger was rusting getting rust on the ice cubes. This also hindered the auger from working properly.
  • John from Denison, TX
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Nutdriver, Pliers, Screw drivers
I removed the ice container with the auger inside. I removed the front panel, then the auger and housing. I had to clean all of the parts that had rust on them. I got some of the parts mixed up and was having a hard time putting them back where they belonged. I went back on the PartSelect web site and with my IPad and opened the exploded view of the parts. This enabled me to put the auger back together. It works perfectly now. Saved a lot of money by doing it myself. Thanks PartSelect.

Ice dispenser had a transistor failure on the control board
  • Jack from Bridgewater, NJ
  • Easy
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Screw drivers
The solenoid in the dispenser was overheated due to the control board failure. After I rerplaced the board I found the heat had distorted the plastic crank and jammed the solenoid action. The plastic crank was easy to replace. Now after expending approx. $75 everything works normally!

Frost in ice dispensor
  • David from Saint Johns, FL
  • Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
Had to take front panel off dispenser area. Then remove components and install new part. That was easy part. Problem was getting components back into front of freezer. Seemed like something was blocking it from going all the way in. Had to remove small amount of insulation and "jiggle" components and eventually fell into place.
