First I unplugged fridge. I then removed cover that keeps fan protected. I then removed 2 screws that hold the evaporator motor in place. I then removed 3 wires running to motor. Very easy to remove, just pulled connections apart. I then replace the old motor with new.

The Sears repairman wanted to charge me $359 to repair. I did repair for under $40! Amazing what you can save if you have the time and knowlege to do it yourself.

Removed the cover inside the freezer. Found out that the motor/fan was not working. Ordered through PartSelect. Got the parts in 3 days. Installed it for less than 30 minutes. Very easy. It saved me hundreds of dollars. We considered buying a new fridge but not anymore. , it only cost me $70 including shipment charges. (Make sure you unp lug the appliance first before opening the cover. Remember safety first.)

This fridge is less than 2 years old really disappointed with frigidaire quality. Had a appliance repair guy diagnose the problem and paid $45 for the service call but decline for him to do the repair for $320. Remove the cover 4 screws holding it on top of fridge the defrost timer is inside 2 screws and you just unplug and replace with a new one. The defrost thermostat is in the freezer compartment, remove the ice maker if equiped then remove back cover, cut out the old thermostat n crimp in the new one. So far the fridge is working but still not getting as cold as before but good enough to keep things safe. Thanks to partselect.com i saved a bunch of money doing it myself.

Fridge side warm. Freezer was ok.

Popped off the front plastic cover on the bottom of the fridge, under the doors. Two screws held the defrost timer on under the front side of fridge (below freezer door). You can't really see the timer except for the adjustment knob that is accessible through a hole. Once the screws are removed, disconnect the wire plug and remove and re placed unit. Works fine ever since.

Fantastic!
Sent in a brief description of problem and model number. Reply and description of other customers experiences guided us to the exact problem.
We ordered the part on Friday and it was here on Tuesday.
I prepared the freezer compartment for the removal of the old motor and on Sunday husband installed new Evaporato r Fan Motor.

It works and is cooling like it did when it was new.

This has been a great experience as all repairmen wanted at least 60.00 to just come out and determine what the problem was. I can only imagine what the final bill would have been.

This was easy and inexpensive.

Thanks for all the help.

Rack door brackets broke

  • John from yonkers, NY
  • Really Easy

I snapped the parts into place. The fact that the parts I recieved were original parts from Frigidaire made all the difference. I feel if the parts had been after market parts they would not have fit so well.

Lightning struct the house and fried the evap thermostat

  • charles from parker, CO
  • A Bit Difficult
  • More than 2 hours
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers, Socket set
Noticed the evap fan wasn't working, so trying to disconnect the wire broke the connection so had to order a new motor. Installed the motor but it still didn't work. Had a technician look at it and he said it was the control board. Ordered and installed control board and still didn't work. The only element left is the evap thermostat. Jumped the thermostat and it worked so ordered and installed a thermostat. It works now

Water leaking from fridge-drain tube cracked
6 of 7 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Gerald from Goshen, IN
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers
Used a screwdriver and unstuck the tape holding the tube in place. Then, just wiggled the tube loose and snapped a new one in. Didn't bother trying to tape the new one. It stayed just fine. Space was a bit tight to work in, but not too bad. The most difficult part was figuring out that the water was actually coming from the fridge, not f rom a leaky faucet or drain. And the fridge was difficult to move, because it has no rollers in the front.

Remove shelves and rear panels to get to motor. Motor is held in place on shroud by simple strap. Remove fan blade, then un hook strap, remove and save rubber spacers on old motor to reuse to remount new motor. New motor Mew motor has wiring harness that is universal. Cut out the three wires that go to the new motor leaving long as possib le, cut wires from old motor as long as possible, strip ends of all wires 1/2 inch, connect wires by color, slip into provided wire connectors and crimp. Pull on wires to insure connection. Tie wires together so they don't touch the coils. Plug in and check operation. If all is working unplug and replace all covers and shelves. Plug back in and it will take few hours to reach operating temperature. Video of side by side repair shows easy removal of panels and motor.
