I installed new ice maker, it worked once in 72 hours. Arm will not drop down into ice container. How do i get the arm to signal ice level lowto the ice maker
For model number WRS571CIDM01
Hi Larry,
Thank you for your question. If you have just installed a new ice maker, please allow 24 hours before it starts to make ice. The arm should be in the up position until it cycles. The ice maker has an automatic shutoff to keep the storage bin from overfilling during normal operation. As ice is made, the ice cubes will fill the ice storage bin, and the ice cubes will raise the shutoff arm to the OFF (arm up) position. When the storage bin is at full capacity, the ice maker will automatically stop ice production, but the ice maker On/Off switch will remain in the ON (up) position. Try and press the on/off switch and then lowering the arm manually to see if this helps. If it not you may have to refer to the diagnostics tech sheet that came with your refrigerator or contact Whirlpool for more information. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.

My freezer keeps making a clicking sound when trying to dispense ice. I noticed there’s like a washer that suppose to hold the bar down that spins so it’s not loose when spinning. You have the part number for this I believe in the diagram it’s part # 5.

Hello Louie, Thank you for the question. Item #5 in the Motor and Ice Container parts is the Spring Part #: PS11731230. We hope this helps.
The ice maker auger motor seemed to be burned out because it would no longer run freely even with no ice in the hopper.I ordered a new motor and installed it. result was the same issue. would not run at every request.
seems the switch is fine because the hopper door opens and the motor tries to run.
could the solenoid that activates the auger motor be going bad? i am thinking there must be some type of solenoid and/or a switching relay that provides voltage to the motor and its not getting the power its calling for? i also noticed that the water flow slowed down about the same time the ice maker started acting up despite changing the water filter.
thank you in advance for you suggestions.

Hello Wayka,
Thank you for your question. Your model does not have an air filter. You should be able to remove the interior panels to be able to clean the parts where the smell is coming from. First unplug the fridge or disconnect the power. Then hand wash, rinse, and dry removable and interior surfaces thoroughly. Use a clean sponge, or soft cloth and a mild detergent in warm water. Hope this helps!
I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the old light rocker switch. Then, I unplugged the wires, plugged them into the new light rocker switch, and then popped the new switch into the hole. That's it! Lights began working again.
First I removed the old lightbulb from the socket and replaced it with a new one to confirm that the bulb was not the problem. I then pryed the socket out with a flat-head screwdriver. I could tell that the socket was anchored in its hole with clips so it was relatively easy to pry it out. Once the socket was out, I disconnected the lead wires and ordered a replacement socket kit from Partselect. When the new one arrived, I reconnected the lead wires to it, snapped it back into its hole, screwed in a new lightbulb, and presto!! The light was back on with no further problem. Thank you, Partselect!! A $15.00 part saved me what probably would have been at least a $100. service call and heaven knows what the technician would have told me I needed!!!
I used a flat screwdriver and released the lock tab on the bottom of the light switch, and pried the switch out, being careful to not damage the plastic around the mounting place of the switch, unplugged wiring from old switch, plugged in the new one and pushed the new switch into place. Job finished light switch now working.
