Super easy! I read all these posts but here are a couple helpful hints -
1. to remove the old icemaker definitely remove the one lower screw but then unscrew the top two screws only half way. The top screw holes on the old and new icemakers are triangle shaped so the old icemaker will simply lift off the half-unscrewed top scr ... Read more ews. This makes reinstallation SO much easier.
2. carefully lower the loose icemaker enough to disconnect the wiring harness from the fridge and remove the old icemaker.
3. On installation the one thing to be careful with is the positioning of the fill tube. It's easier if it's in place when you reconnect the harness of the new icemaker because the harness is only as long as it must be.
4. hang the new icemaker on the half unscrewed top screws, snug them up, install the lower screw and flip the wire ice level sensor arm down.
I didn't even turn the water off because only a working icemaker can turn the water valve on and off.
Plugged in the power to the fridge and within an hour water filled the tray. By morning I had 2-3 batches of fresh ice in the bucket. Super easy.

I Removed 3 screws, pulled off the plate and put the new one on, screwed in 3 screws and away I went. I could not believe how easy it was to order the part and how quickly it arrived. I was very pleased. And I was literally screaming with excitement when I heard the first set of ice cubes drop!

I removed the two attachment screws and lifted the old icemaker out and disconnected the plug. The new one was identical to the old one so the installation was just a reversal of the removal. The water soleniod was sticking from not being used so I took it apart and cleaned it. The next morning I had ice. The part arrived at my door in le

I removed the switch housing (4 screws), replacing the switch in the housing was a snap. It took 5 minutes, cost $8 and light works like new!
Why didn't I order this part and do the repair earlier? Very simple.

First I removed the ice bin to give me room to work. Then I took out the screws that held the old ice maker in place. I disconnected the wiring. I then plugged the wires of the new ice maker into the old wiring harness. I put in the bottom screws and loosely connected the top screws. I checked the level of the ice maker with a small l

Wathced video (VERY helpful)of how to do repair to make sure it was within my capabilities to do. Made sure I had all requested numbers before ordering. Replacement part was an EXACT fit. 15 minutes of work and I saved nearly $150 of estimate by local service company. I am (and will continue to be) a repeat customer. Thanks. Mel

I removed the 2 screws on top and the one screw underneath holding the Ice Maker to the wall of freezer.I pulled the electrical connection from the wall next (wiggled it back and forth until it came out).
I matched it up to the picture from this site and ordered the replacement unit.
When it arrived, it had a lot of extra parts ... Read more to match up to mine and any other fridge.
A good tip is to keep the old unit so you can configure the new unit the same. Although it was easy, this took me the longest of the entire job. Once this was done, it took me !0 minutes to plug the new unit into my fridge and then attach it back to the wall with the 3 screws. Not a hard job. Thanks

However , there were not instruction that came with the mold/heater unit. I had no problem but other do-in-uselfers may need some basic instructons

ice maker gears stripped/ bearing & cup assy broken

Nutdriver, Screw drivers
The bearing & cup assembly was broken and the gears in the drive assy were stripped. Unfortunately I couldn't find anywhere to buy the gears without buying the entire motor assy with the gear box already on it. Cost was up to $85 with shipping but at least it now works fine.
To repair: a 1/4 nut driver will take off screw b ... Read more elow ice maker and all you need to do is loosen the 2 screws above the ice maker then push it upward slightly and it will slide off the top 2 screws. Then pull the power connector off from behind the ice maker at the side of the refridge. Then pull straight out and it will slide off the water fill tube. Now with unit out of refridge I took the cover off the front of the ice maker and removed the 3 philip screws. I then pulled the motor/gear assy off from the chassis of the ice maker. I then had to remove the 2 philip screws on the chassis (under the motor/gear assy) to remove the cube maker/element from the chassis. This allowed me to remove the rotating cube spatula bar to replace the filler cup/bearing assy. Then I reinstalled the spatula bar and the 2 philip scews on the chassis to the cube maker/element assy. I then installed the new motor/gear assy to the chassis and installed the 3 remaining philip screws. Put the cover back on the ice maker and inserted assy back into the refridge by first reattaching the power connector and then sliding backward onto the water fill tube and then slipping over the top of the 2 top screws on the refridge. Then I installed the screw below the ice maker and tightened all 3. Presto - repair done in 30 minutes and perfect cubes were spitting out within the hour.

The repair was simple.
I first did a diagnosis of the optical cuircuits and found them good. The tray heated up and when resetting the moor controller, the water cyccled to fill the tray so the only other thing it could be was the motor controller.
removed the service door for the ice maker
I removed the wire ... Read more protectore screw and shroud
pulled the icemaker unit out and unplugged the unit
removed the motor controller end cap
unscrewed 3 screws holding the motor controller
removed and replaced the motor controller. ensured that all wire harness connector poiints were solid
reverse the above instructions and in 5 hours I was getting ice again!
$90 turned out to be a savings from the $250 it would have cost to have someone come out and look at the fridge.
I highly recommend to anyone who can read and use a screwdriver to perform this repair if you have diagnosed this as the root of your problem!
