Replace old Element

The new element wiring placements were totally different from the old element. Lucky for me the lettering printed on the terminals for each pole was the same as on the old one. It was just a matter of matching up each terminal pole lettering. The instructions that came with the new element were of no help at all. Youtube was my best help er.

Only half of the broiler element would get hot enough to glow

  • Thomas from BOSSIER CITY, LA
  • A Bit Difficult

First BE SURE TO TURN OFF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER!!! Remove the oven door if you need to get closer to the work. Then remove the screws securing the the element to the the oven. There were two on each side in the back where the element goes they the wall and two more that held the element to the upper surface. Carefully pull the element out t o gain access to the wires and terminals. Gently pull each wire off one at a time, being sure not to allow the wire to get pulled back into the rear part of the oven. Reconnect each wire securely to the new element. Doubly check each connection! Then replace each screw and you should be set!

oven light kept burning out instantly

Replaced the oven light with a new one but it burnt out as soon as I turned it on. Therefore I decided a new socket may help.

My whirlpool apparently has the old style socket which is pictured in partselect part #PS12584564. The old style socket has to two metal arms that retain it against the metal reflector.

The part that will come (#PS12584564) however is the new style that whirlpool has changed to, apparently. It is not as pictured. The socket and the reflector have different retention devices.

I used screw drivers to bend the two metal arms away to release the socket. Then I had to use allen wrenches to bend the reflector's retention tabs away.

Once I had the old socket, reflector, and lens replaced I just followed the video on partselect for part #PS12584564

bad burner

My dual zone burner would trip my breaker anytime i tried to turn it on. All the other burners would work fine. I searched online and found a way to test my burner, which was shorted or grounded out. I purchased a new burner from the site...It was as cheap or cheaper than other sites. It showed up a few days quicker than i was expecting.. I also replaced the switch to the burner, just as a precaution and to save time since i already had the top glass off of my burners....EASY JOB!

Heating elements heating too long and not cycling
1 person found this instruction helpful.
  • Steven from PENSACOLA, FL
  • Really Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
Removed the top light, removed the 2 screws in the light pan and pulled the control panel over the stove top. Held controls exactly as mounted, removed wires from the old control and pushed on to the new ones. Removed the 2 screws that held the controls to the panel, tossed the old control and put in screws to the new controls securing them to the panel. Remember to unplug the range first. And, a secure bar that maintains the push button panel will have to be maintained, so tape before removing any parts.

Dual Surface Element went out

  • Larry from RADCLIFF, KY
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins

Followed the instructions in the video provided by PartSelect, which was very accurate. They only problem I have encountered is that the wiring from the old element compared to the new element do not match up 100%. I had to call Whirlpool today and schedule a Tech to come out and see if they can resolve the problem. Right now, when the bu rner is turned on, both the inner and outer elements turn on.

Broken inner oven door glass

This worked very well, thanks to the advice posted from other users. The only part that was a bit unclear was removing the door. There are small, slotted metal pieces screwed into the sides of the oven to hold the door hinges in the slots. After removing those, I had to hold the door and push it up and down, and a little bit side to si de, to get the hinges to start sliding out, but they did. There are no other screws or brackets holding them in place. The hinges are on springs, so they do snap up when they come out of the slots in the sides of the oven. But they only snap to a 90 degree angle, so they won't cut your fingers off. You'd have to hold your fingers right on them to even get pinched. After that, I just kept taking screws out of the door until I got through to the back panel, replaced it, and put it all back together.

Oven was overheating and locking the door. Codes indicated the temperature sensor could be the issue.

  • Margaret from PUTNAM VALLEY, NY
  • Very Easy
  • Less than 15 mins

Only one screwdriver needed for this simple repair. Unfortunately for me it did not repair my oven and a new code on the oven indicated a bigger problem with computer board.
Part Select was great to work with and accepted a return and promptly refunded me for the part.
Thank you!
