Remove top by opening oven and taking out two screws in the front. Lift up top and unplug wire connectors on bad element, writing down where they are landed. Take out screw on element bracket and replace. That easy. Be sure to unplug appliance for your safety. :-) Also just wanted to add that PartSelect was great. Ordered it on saturda y and was cooking with it on tuesday. Great job.

Oven light would not work--faulty socket
10 of 12 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Delores from Warren, MN
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers, Socket set
After removing the back of the stove, the old light socket was fairly easy to remove. The new socket slipped in place and the wires reattached and now the oven has a light again. A very simple process--especially for someone who's not an expert in repairing appliances.

Oven Would Not Heat After Auto-Clean
10 of 13 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Jim from San Diego, CA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers
Very simple. I removed two screws holding the oven in place. Slid oven out onto the kitchen floor - it doesn't really weigh that much. I then removed about a dozen screws holding the back panel in place. I removed the back panel, disconnected the thermostat by unscrewing a single screw and pulled the defective part from the connectors. I then installed the new thermostat, screwed the back panel back on, slid the oven back into place and re-secured with the two screws. Voila! Repair done. The whole procedure took about 15 minutes and was not difficult at all.

Drop the glass while trying to replace outer trim
10 of 14 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Bridget from Windsor, CT
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers
My husband had no problem at all with the replacement of the exterior glass.
Slipped it in and attached to hooks and secured with the handle with a screw driver. Be sure to remember the trim doesn't cover the glass it kind of sits behind it. It can be deceiving in a way you may think in sits in front of the glass. Otherwise it wa s quite easy and the part came quickly in less than 24 hours....this is a great site.

Blower died
8 of 9 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Marla from Newtown, PA
  • Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
Getting at the part was difficult. The top and both side panels had to be removed to reach the blower. Once they were off, it was fairly easy to swap out the blower. The repair guy wanted $140 for the part and $160 to insall. I did it myself for $94! If you do it yourself, keep a good record of what screws came from where as you go. This makes re-assembly much easier.

oven light flashing off and on when door closed
10 of 16 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Keith from Marion, KS
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
removed the two screws that held the cook top on and moved it enough to get to the light switch. Removed the switch and tested with multimeter. Pulled the two wires out of the mounting hole and insulated with elect. tape. Replaced the cook top and installed the two screws that hold it in place. Located the switch at PartSelect on line and ordered it. When the switch came in (the next day), I connected the two wires, and snapped the switch in place, and I was back in business.

Simply removed three screws that held the door trim in place. Once the screws are removed be carefull because the front door glass is held in place by the bottom door trim. Otherwise an extremely easy repair.

Lower Door Trim gets rusty
7 of 8 people found this instruction helpful.
  • James.O from Newark, DE
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
I have removed this piece once before and painted it,
but it is difficult to prepare surface.

I tried to replace the part without removing the door
but had difficulty getting the screws to line up.

So, I took the door off. Forgot that you are supposed to jam
the spring hinges in the open position be fore you remove the door. Manual describes how to do this but picture is not very helpful. So I made two wooden dowels about 3/8" in dia by about 3/4" long. Opened the hinge with a screwdriver and jammed the dowels in place.

Door Trim went on easily and the oven door went back on quickly.

Surprised they don't make this trim piece with rust proof material.

Smaller broiler coil stopped working.
6 of 6 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Patrick from SANTA CLARA, CA
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
Our double-oven is wall-mounted, so accessing the backside to change the wires (as shown in the instruction video) was not a practical do-it-yourself option. After turning off the circuit breaker and disconnecting the broken broiler element, it is pretty easy to pull the four connection wires through the backside of the oven, which allow ed us to disconnect the slide clips. We attached twist-ties to each clip/wire before disconnecting to keep the clips/wires from pulling back behind the oven wall when moving the new element into position. We found it necessary to crimp a few clips onto the new element to make secure connections, but the rest of the project went pretty much as shown in the video and the new element works great.

Broiler element not working
9 of 15 people found this instruction helpful.
  • James from Dublin, PA
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers
Removed back of oven. Disconnected 2 connectors on each side of element. Removed screws that were too rusted to use screwdriver with vise grips. Removed old element, inserted new element through holes in rear of oven.Installed 1 screw on each side of element in rear and 2 screws in front where brackets support the front of the element.Put back panel back on. Push oven back in place, plug back in outlet. It works great and I didn't have to pay service man.

broken bottom drawer glide and missing rivet on drawer front panel
7 of 9 people found this instruction helpful.
  • David from Fairborn, OH
  • Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers
Removed the old, broken drawer glide by removing the Phillips head screw. Then placed the new glide into place and fastened with the existing screw.

The rivet on the top of the bottom drawer front was missing. I lined up the drawer front with the supporting bracket behind it and inserted the rivet. All you have to do is tap the top of the pin in the center of the rivet to lock it in place. No rivet tool is needed. That should be explained in the parts listing because I bought the rivet tool before I realized I didn't need it.
