KBHC KitchenAid Microwave Oven Combo - Instructions

A screw on the botton of the door was very inaccessible and difficult to remove. The rest of the process was flawless.

I just placed the tray in and was done. The kicker is that i cannot use my microwave without the tray. so i was without my microwave for 2 weeks before i called parts select. they were quick and fast.

easily IDed parts; ordered, here 3 days later. very convenient. no hassle. no wasted time going from place to place or calling everyone in yellow pages.

Open the door and removed the 2 screws that hold the front
glass and stainless steel panel (Hold on to the door handle
or the face and glass will come crashing to the floor; learned this after the first time a couple of years ago $$$). Set the stainless steel panel in a safe area until ready for reassembly.

remaining on the door in order to get to the springs. There are 2 screws that hold the plastic cover which are difficult
to access without removing the side and bottom trim of the
microwave opening. The spring was easy to replace at this point and didn't require any tools; just observe when taking
the broken one off, plus you can use the other spring as a
go by. Replace the black plastic cover, the bottom trim, the
side trims and the stainless door panel and it's complete!

Just had to remove the screws holding the outer part of the door on (didn't have to take off the entire door). Using the other door spring (most models have two that cross) as an example, the new spring was fairly easy to place. Only problem is that the new spring was made from a smaller gauge metal and is not nearly as strong as the or ... Read more iginal, making the door feel heavier when opening/closing than before. The difference with and without the 2nd spring is barely noticeable. Had I known that they were making the parts cheaper now, I would'nt have bothered fixing it at all.

This was the 3rd time that our microwave door springs broke. Was tired of paying $100s to local appliance repair companies. Keep in mind that the form factor of the springs are not the coil type but rather straight rods in design, slightly short of the width of the microwave door. STEP 2 - remove the black lower (plastic) vent cover located directly below the microwave door (4 screws). STEP 3 - remove the black plastic inner unit that surrounds the inner microwave door glass (there are 2 screws at the bottom). STEP 4 - Once this part is removed you will see two (2) horizontal springs that crisscross at the bottom of the microwave door. Take a photo of the spring positions for reference. STEP 5 - remove the broken springs, replace with your new springs and reassemble in reverse order.

This is the third time that the bulb went out.It took two Sears service technitions to remove the entire appliance out of the cabinet. The entire top has to be removed and the insolation has to be pulled back to get to the electrical wire. I am waiting for an appointment to get Sears to do it again. The replacement turntable we received was an exact duplicate of the original. It was as easy as rinsing the new turntable, taking the old turntable out and putting the new one in.

Removed all terminals and block mounting screws. Repaired one burnt terminal and reassembled. Replacement part was an exact fit and reassembly whnet very well.

cut power off and placed sturdy table same height as bottom of oven in front of oven. removed trim screws. pulled oven out onto table. removed top cover and panel on left side . tested transformer to be sure it was bad. then replaced transforner

Watched a U-Tube video that was helpful but did not address how fragile the plastic door frame was that the exterior glass front sat in / mounted to. The plastic door frame holes did not have metal inserts and plastic door holes were enlarged/stripped. Had to use larger screws. Also the plastic door frame was fragile and cracked in a coup ... Read more le locations. Luckily I was able to use duck tape to firm up the cracks in the plastic door frame. I tried to replace the plastic door frame but was not in stock/available.
That said easy to install the two Torsion Springs.

The replacement of the blower was an easy repair. Just had to remove two back panels of the oven and the blower was then very accessable. Just remove the two electrical wires and then three screws and the blower came right off. Put the new blower on with the three screws and replaced the 10 or 12 screws holding the back panels and the job ... Read more was complete!. The difficult part of the job was removing the combo unit from the cabinet to access the back panels. That part took some effort. Had to build a platform to slide the oven out onto after I disconnected the electrical feed wire (#6 wire) located in a junction box in my attic. Once that was done, the actual blower replacement was simple. The turntable motor was a different story...Although replacing the turntable motor was going to be as easy as replacing the blower motor, I couldn't access the underside of the microwave without disassembling the whole combo unit cabinet! That was very disappointing to me that Whirlpool didn't make that part easier to access, so I didn't replace the turntable motor. Too bad but we are just going to live with the turntable not turning!!

Ordered a new one, put it in place in less than one minute.

Set the new one inside the microwave

Part arrived in timely manner and placed it in microwave oven.
