we just pried out the old switch and pulled it out the rest of the way with a pair of needle nose pliers. Pulled off the wires on the broken switch and reattached to the new one and just slid/clicked it back into the hole.

I lifted the old switch with a flat screwdriver, attached wires, and popped into place. Saved 80 bucks for a repair call.

Two tabs hold the switch in place. I used a plastic wedge to remove the switch. Removed and replaced the two connectors held in by friction. Painless.

Just pop the old one out, careful not to lose the wiring inside the ref wall & popped the new one in.

I popped the switch out using the blade of a small screwdriver and noticed that it connected with two wires via a slide on connector for each one. I noted the info on the old switch to identify which wire went to which terminal. I held each wire with a pair of pliers while I pulled the wire connector off the terminal on the old switch. I connected the two wires to the correct terminals on the new swith, and popped the switch back into the door frame. Easy, easy, easy and saved the $40 service call + parts cost!

Easy fix, but they don't give you plenty of wire to work with. When I pulled the switch out it only had about an inch of wire that came with it. meaning if I didn't have a grasp on the wires as I was removing the switch they would have slipped back up the opening

1. Order replacement board so it's on hand.
2. Unplug appliance or turn off appropriate circuit breaker.
3. Remove all items on top shelf of refrigerator to allow yourself working room.
4. Remove one phillips head screw, at front of control panel bezel.
5. Allow bezel to hang down a little so you can disconnect multi-pin connector, by squeezing the tabs on opposite sides and pulling down. Note black dot on tab for easier orientation of replacement connector.
6. Gently pull the entire assembly forward to remove. It has two pins that align and hold the back of the assembly to the deck.
7. Place assembly on a table with the control board facing up.
8. Remove plastic push pin that holds protective cover over the control circuit board.
9. Remove temperature control knob by pulling straight out.
10. Push back 2 locking tabs at the front of the control circuit board so it will become loose.
11. Pry up cable tie mount that holds wire bundle to the assembly.
12. Free thermistor wire from it guides and flip over the assembly that is holding the sensor.
13. Peel up the tape holding the wire in the molded groove so wire/sensor can be removed. It is not necessary to remove the tape since you will use it again.
14. Remove the two wires that connect to the door switch at the front left of the assembly. It's a tight fit, but you can remove the spade connectors.
15. Now the circuit board assembly can be removed and set aside.
16. Optional - at this time you can use the continuity tester to verify the door switch is working properly.
17. Now install the new control board by reversing the removal steps.

It was very simple! I assessed the situation and gathered my tools for the job. I used a flat head screwdriver, pliers, and electrical tape. I used the flat head screwdriver to release the switch from its location, the pliers to take the electrical terminations apart. I taped the wires individual so that I would not loose them in the door, also not to short them out. I then unpackaged the new switch to install. Pulled the tape off one of the of the terminals while holding the wire, and attached it to the new switchs terminal post. Did the same with the other wire, then snapped the new switch back into place. Immediately had results. I opened and closed the door a few times in amazement that something so annoying such as a light in your fridge could be so easy to fix. Our daughter spilled juice on the refrigerator light button. It started with the light coming on very slowly and then not at all. We popped off the old button with a flat head screwdriver, plugged in the new one. Works perfect. Can't believe how inexpensive and easy the fix was.

The three bulbs would then remain on, so I loosened them to keep them off. I didn't know that the cooling system also would stop when the door was open, so for two days only the side freezer was operational. When I discovered that, I hot glued the switch button off, while I searched for a replacement part. The replacement part was an exact duplicate. A simple prying out of the old switch - using a screwdriver, and the reconnection of the two wires connectors to the new part, and clicking back in place ... done. Seriously, it took two minutes.

Removed broken switch with plastic scraper (press tension latch on bottom), moved two wire terminals to the new switch and pressed the new switch into the hole.

I got the model # off the fridge, ordered the part online. The part was fairly cheap and was at my house 2 days after I ordered it. It was the exact part and I installed it in about 15 minutes and everyting worked out fine and easy and cheap, under $15 total to fix the issue. All I needed to do was use a flathead screwdriver to "pop" out the old switch, remove the 2 wires off the wire connection points, put the wires on the new switch and push it back into place. easy. My father called and asked me if I knew where he could get a new switch light for his refrigerator. I came across your web site and found the part right away. I located the light switch at the bottom of the area where the door closes. I just popped it out with a small screwdriver and installed the new switch. A 2 wire connecter and small clip is all there is to it.

I pulled the bulb out to see if it was the bulb, no! I took the switch out, of course with the refer unplugged, and jummped out the wires and the light came on. Ordered my switch and put it in in 10 seconds and then there was light! Thanks again for showing me the light!
