ED20DFXEW01 Whirlpool Refrigerator - Instructions

I simply removed the old switch using 2 small screwdrivers and the old switch case popped out. I then upluged the wires from the old switch and reversed the process. Didn't take longer than 5 minutes begining to end! Thank you for the great service! Duncan quaid

Easy removal. Easy Plug and play install. Didn't even have to use the other wires. After install, put 4 oz of water into ice maker and wait....it didn't start making ice right away, but a couple hours later I heard the wonderful "ice dropping into the bin" sound. Worked great ever since.

Followed the video on parts page. I was worried I would brake the cover but learned from the video the right way to remove the front plate. I found the video very informing. Thank you for saving me a service call and the part cost was minimal compared to a new refrigerator .

Removed the ice maker. Used a small mirror (wife's make up mirror) to find the screws. Inspected and found most teflon coating missing. Ordered new ice maker and installed. Works perfect.

Loosened all retaining screws around gasket - removed old gasket - inserted new gasket and tightened screws. Little tedious (lots of screws) but very simple.

After unplugging the appliance, I unscrewed the screws in the bottom and the back of the freezer compartment and un-clipped the connector for the ice machine, which i do not have installed. I opened rear wall inside freezer (two screws) cut the wires on old thermostat and removed it. Then I attatched the new thermostat to the existing wires using wire nuts and electrical tape and slid it onto the copper tubing. Re-installed the rear wall. I removed the plastic portion to get to the switch and wires. I removed the old switch by disconnecting the two wires and pushing it out of its setting.

I discovered the old switch only had 2 prongs where the new switch had 3. Once I figured which 2 of the 3 prongs would light the lightbulb,
I then connected the two w ... Read more ires to the correct prongs of the new switch. I pushed the new switch into its setting and replaced the plastic portion on the refrigerator. Voila, success. The refrigerator door now comes on when its door is opened.

Replaced refrigerator cooling control. No luck. Replaced freezer cooling control. No luck. Coils were icing up. Unplugged frig and allowed coils to defrost. Well first of all the grill was not only missing a clip on the rleft side of the fridge, but after recieving the new one I studied teh one still on and noticed that the plastic stand off that holds it was busted off. This is an incredibly easy repair.

1) Remove the three screws holding the old icemaker

2) Disconnect the electrical connection (I used a spoon to get in and undo the connector clip

Do the opposite to install the new icemaker.

Total elapsed time was about 5 minutes.

At first I went to a local part supplier and they didn't have it in stock but could order it for me for $55.00 plus $10.00 to ship it. I told them I would have to think about it. First shut off water supply and unplug power. Unscrew icemaker assembly from side wall with 3 screws. Remove front cap and you can clearly see module. Unscrew and remove module ( only three screws). The Ice maker unit had to be removed and the shaft had to also be removed, which required dis-assembling the motor drive. The thickness of the shaft and the bearing fill cup prevents it from simply pushing it in place. Other than that I have Ice.
